OBJEI CTIVES AND ACTIVITIES ObJeetlves alld 8ims The Llyde Fisherinen's Ti'ust was establish¢d in late 2016 a3 a SCIO by community minded local Clyde fhermen. Its aims are centrod oroiind increasing cultural awareness of fishin& advancing marine science, providing education particularly on inarine related issues, developing the Arts (particulw'ty in ren]ole coastal ar¢as where this is sparse) and reg¢nerating these communities which have experienced issue4 such as rapid depopulation and loss of coJ]nection to theii. fAshing heritage, over recent years. Signifjcant acllvltles In 2024 to 2025 th¢ Trust Continued to support new Start5 by working with other partner8 to deliver InIng, support and ants to potential new starts to a Caer in fAshing. Courses have been held in the West Coast, again witb Oban playing a key role. In May 2024 a fishernien ts'ained by the cFr won Trainee Fishermen of the Year at The FishirAg News Awards. As with previous years some cr.T volunteers continue lo play an advisory and administrative role on the Nancy Glen Trust alongside other pi'orninent and respected comtnunity representatives, however the CFf itself no longer plays direct role in issuing support as this fLmction has been transferred to the Nancy Glen Trust with approval of the beneficiaries. The Nancy Glen Trust is envisaged to run and require management for roughly 15 years in total after the date of its forn)ation. In 2024 we also administered & grant fLmded tempornry posltion supported by Argyll and Bute co¢11 for an adn]inistrative post with the trust which ended in Decelnber 2024. In 2024 the Trust secuTed a grant towards the u'eation of a training hub in InveTclyde which will be utilised by the Trust'5 tt'aining courses for the West of Scotland. As with oth, charities we do feel the fInancial climate 18 Inore challenging for clwitable activity and fundraising. We hav¢ been able to seauE some core fuiiding froin the Robertgon Trust to assist in continuing a TIst Manager post for the next three y.8, but we were unable to secure thnds to replace the science po8t which ended in 2023, we hope this will be achievable at some point and we continue to p'SUc support for sclence based projects and posts. We have been able to obtain an Remotely Operated Vehicle to conduct 8oience, but we do have to s¢wre funds to perniit the equipment to be op,ated and this will be a key priority moving fonvard. In July 2024 the Trust attended the T'bert Seafood Festival and in Decenther 2024 the Tnjst established a pHrtnership with The Glasgow B,raS by hosting a small Christmas Seafood Stall. ni M'¢h 2025 the Trust partnered with The Barr&s again and held a full scale Festival of the Se& The Trust managed to secure two grants towards the eveiil although as usual substantial Costs wffl'e met by the Trust. As always the successful delivery of the eveni depended on the good will of Trustee volunteers in respect to supportive time and labour, aiid the seafood donation5 of local fisherftnen. The event could never occur without in kindlvolunteer support of so many individuals and businesses in the fishing comrnunity, As noted above we continued to deliver new entrant trainee courses for fh]ng wÉth partners.This involves sourcing fundin& managing the projects and allocating payrn¢nts for trainees and parthers. This h&s been incredil)ly worthwhile as new entraiits have inoved on to work as fidl time fishemell as they have ill previouB years. tn 2024 the Trust secured grant towards the creation of a training hub in lllverclyde which will be utilised by the Tnjsvs training courses for the West of Scotland. It'8 development is undenvay and completion inllllinenL In Septernber 2024 and in January 2025 th¢ CFT worlod with Fishing Into the Futhre to develop two r]dltial style F-REP Events which brought togeth¢T fisherinen, scientists, researcher5. policy makers, socio-economic specialists and i'etailers alld businesses to discuss fishing in the Clyde and the wider West Coast. Both events were fully subsu'ibed. In March 2025 the Batmap project's fst stage, as supported by DEFR& came to an end. As previously noted ill 2023 the CFT partnered with the Scottish Fishennen's Organisation and local filhermen ni the development of a succossful bid for a science project. The grant came from DEFRA wid Wds administered through th¢ SFO. it drew on academi expertise from Aberdeen University. Th¢ Batmap Project considers sustainable data on issues such as bycatch to assist local fishermen in issu&$ such &5 Stock locations and stock avoidatt¢e and h&8 been a SI11f1callt achievanent for the Ti'ust and local ftsliernien. It is hoped the project will continue effectively now the softwar6 and apps have been created and will help to inforni local science into the futu1¢. The CFT also supported networking events for 3taff through the year. FINANCIAL REVIEW Finanei21 posltion At the balance sheet date the Tiust held filnds of £49,589. FUTURE PLANS As in previous years the Trust will focus on gaining support for core costs such &s office rental and staff costs. The Trust is likely to also continue to pursue core inid to long-term running costs wherever possible. As a Trust we now offer both physical and online hybrid AGM'S and Trustee meetings moving into the future which will benefit Ti'ustees who n)ay have issues regaTding travelling. Our Truste¢s will continue to meet vtrtually and physically when possible to review expenditure, Staffg> voluntary trusts¢ involvement, priority work stt'eams. office and remote working arrangements and ndlsing and long-tsnn sustainability of the Trust.
