Activities
'It carries out activities or services itself'
'the advancement of health','the advancement of citizenship or community development','the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended'
Members can take part in a variety of activities, including woodworking, metalworking, gardening, and other hand-on projects. The shed provides access to tools and equipment, allowing individuals to learn new skills or work on personal projects in a supportive environment. Additionally, we offer a space for informal conversation and social interaction, helping to build friendships and a sense of community. The shed offers a welcoming environment where men can form friendships, share experiences, and build a sense of community. This social interaction helps combat loneliness and provides emotional support to men who may be experiencing mental health issues which impact on their everyday lives. We often participate in community initiatives, contributing to local projects and charities. This involvement not only benefits the community but also gives members a sense of purpose and achievement. We are currently manufacturing benches and wooden garden beds for a local charity.
Objectives: The purpose of the group is to advance the health and well-being, social needs, and community involvement of men of all ages and backgrounds living in West Dunbartonshire and the surrounding area. By: a) Creating, developing and maintaining a facility, namely a Men's Shed. b) Offering opportunities for men in West Dunbartonshire and the surrounding area to meet and undertake creative, physical, purposeful and recreational activities of their choice. c) Reducing isolation of men in the area thus contributing to their physical and mental wellbeing. d) Developing the capacity of men in West Dunbartonshire to share their skills and knowledge with others in the community. e) Supporting & encouraging the development of Men's Sheds across West Dunbartonshire and further afield.
