PRET undertakes and supports research, training and educational activities and clinical service development in Photobiology in the context of skin health and disease, with an emphasis on unmet clinical need. It works with clinicians, scientists, allied healthcare professionals, patients and the public, disseminates and transfers knowledge and skills in the field widely and at international level. PRET activities make important contributions in the field of photobiology at preventative, patient engagement, diagnostic and therapeutic levels and actively contributes to public health matters, which involve aspects of light and ultraviolet radiation. Key areas of interest include light testing, photodynamic therapy, UV phototherapy, lasers and Far-UVC for disinfection.

Objectives: To promote, conduct and support research, clinical service development, education and training in photobiology relevant to skin, its diseases and prevention of those diseases. the use of laser and non-laser energy-emitting sources to investigate and treat skin disorders and to undertake laboratory-based research. to provide staff, accommodation, instruments, equipment and materials relating to the foregoing. and to promote for the public benefit knowledge relating to the foregoing.
