Objectives & Activities:
Jhankar Beats Glasgow is a community-led charity dedicated to promoting South Asian arts, culture, and well-being across Glasgow. Its core objectives are to advance education in Indian dance and music, celebrate cultural heritage, support community integration, and enhance the physical and mental well-being of participants across all age groups.
We will run regular classes in Kathak, Bollywood, and folk dance, as well as harmonium and keyboard music sessions. Its weekly Youth Activity Club offers a creative mix of dance, music, storytelling, yoga, and sports, while the Social Elite Club supports elderly well-being through cultural engagement and social interaction.
Jhankar Beats actively participates in city-wide events like Glasgow Mela, Perth Mela, Holi, International Women’s Day offering opportunities for community performances and cultural exchange. Also hosts our own events, including the annual Summer Bash , workshops, showcasing talent and encouraging inclusivity.
With plans to launch a new community space by late 2025, Jhankar Beats is expanding its reach, aiming to connect more people through the joy of dance, music and cultural & physical activities. It fosters integration, artistic growth, and community spirit, welcoming individuals from all backgrounds to participate, learn, and celebrate together.

In the 2024–25 season, Jhankar Beats Glasgow has once again established itself as a premier South Asian music and cultural group in Scotland. The group delivered over 15 high-impact performances across Glasgow , including standout events at Glasgow Mela, Edinburgh Diwali, and Multicultural Festival. Their vibrant fusion of Bollywood, folk, and contemporary styles captivated diverse audiences, earning widespread praise from both community leaders and arts organizations.
Enrichment Opportunities:
Jhankar Beats Glasgow offers a range of enrichment opportunities designed to nurture artistic talent, build confidence, and foster community cohesion across all ages.
The organisation delivers structured traditional South Asian music tuition to around 40 young people every year. The programme teaches instruments like harmonium, tabla, keyboard and includes ensemble playing, boosting musical skills, self-confidence, and cultural pride.
Beyond the funded project, Jhankar Beats provides ongoing instruction in Kathak, Bollywood, folk dance, harmonium, and keyboard. These classes incorporate performance preparation, mentorship, and cultural storytelling, guiding participants toward performances, auditions, or leadership roles.
Participants are showcased at Glasgow cultural events such as Glasgow Mela, Perth Mela, International Women’s Day, Holi, Krishna Janmashtami and the annual Summer Bash. They perform in ensembles, solos, and collaborative showcases—practical
enrichment through live performance and cultural celebration.
Advanced students and youth mentors are encouraged to co-lead classes, support beginners, and organize performances. This builds teaching skills, confidence, and ownership within the community.
‑ Community Integration & Well Being enrichment extends to clubs like the Youth Activity Club and Social Elite Club, which combine arts education with storytelling, yoga, sports, and social activities—fostering creativity, physical health, mental well-being, and intergenerational bonding.
Through high-quality pedagogy, performance experience, mentorship, and community-building programmes, Jhankar Beats enriches participants’ lives artistically, socially, and personally.
Financial Review:
Statement Of the Charity's Policy On Reserves:
We intend to hold a small bank balance of around £4000 - £5000 at all times, in order to cover any unforeseen emergency expenditure. This will be reviewed annually. Other than that, we would wish to utilise all funds provided to us for the purposes of the Charity, as detailed in this report.

Future Plans
Jhankar Beats Glasgow has an ambitious future roadmap aimed at deepening its cultural impact and community engagement across Glasgow.
We are planning to open a permanent community centre in Glasgow, scheduled for autumn 2025. This will serve as a central venue for classes, rehearsals, workshops, performances, and wellbeing activities.
Building on the success of "Music in My Ears", we will introduce advanced courses in classical Indian instruments and dance . Expert mentors will lead intensive modules, along with mentorship for emerging performers interested in teaching or choreography.
A key aim is forging collaborations with Glasgow schools and local councils to integrate South Asian performing arts into mainstream education and youth programming—making culture accessible in everyday settings.
To broaden Community Reach & Wellbeing Programming Jhankar Beats will host more intergenerational and cross-cultural events —including storytelling festivals, mental-health arts initiatives, and community celebrations—to promote social cohesion and emotional well-being.
To improve Volunteer and Leadership Pathways we will establish a structured volunteer programme, empowering young members to co-lead sessions, mentor peers, and organize events , fostering leadership and community ownership.
Through these strategic initiatives, Jhankar Beats Glasgow envisions becoming a leading, inclusive platform for South Asian arts and cultural exchange across Scotland.
We aim to get Scottish and Indian Scottish social groups to come together and integrate. Our recent events were viewed and supported by local audiences. This was greatly accepted and seen as part of festival celebrations to reflect on shared values of communities and religious affiliations.
In conclusion, Jhankar Beats Is guided by Scottish Values and South Asian heritage, and cultural constructs of the community.

By participating in a range of high-profile events—Glasgow Mela, Perth Mela, Holi, International Women’s Day, Paisley Gala, etc.—Jhankar Beats acts as a cultural ambassador, promoting intercultural exchange through performance, dialogue, and shared celebration.
Through diverse funding streams, strategic partnerships, and a growing physical presence, Jhankar Beats Glasgow continues to deepen its role as a vital community anchor for arts, education, and wellbeing.
Our work is developed through rigorous collaborative practices where the human spirit is celebrated, diverse voices are amplified through and great efforts toward social justice and equity are engaged through creative processes and performance. Our aim is to contribute to the dismantling of racism in society and promoting inclusiveness. We work tirelessly to develop new innovative choreographic work inspired by the people of
Glasgow and create performance opportunities for young children. Our mission is to give credibility to children's ideas, talents and imaginations, to create an environment necessary to enhance their ideas of movement. Through our programme, all children and adults have the opportunity to perform and build self esteem through the wonderful avenues of the arts.We pride ourselves on the ability to engage people whatever their story, however they communicate to be alongside them listening and responding to their self expression, allowing space for connection, reflection, growth, and personal understanding.
