Uist Council of Voluntary Organisations (UCVO) is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity, first formed in 1975 and run by a board of directors. UCVO provides a single point of access for support and advice for the third sector in the area and represents and supports the Third Sector in Uist by: Representing the voice of the Third Sector at a strategic community planning level Supporting Third sector organisations and Social Enterprises with organisational planning and development Supporting Third Sector organisations and Social Enterprises to achieve good governance and manage organisational change Identifying sources of funding, and helping with completing and reviewing applications Producing regular e-bulletins with up-to-date information on funding, training and changes in policy and charity law. Identifying, promoting and facilitating training opportunities Providing support to meet the PVG obligations of Third Sector organisations

Objectives: The Charitable Purposes of UCVO ('the Charitable Purposes') are to benefit the community of the Uists being the Isle of Berneray, North Uist, the Isle of Benbecula, South Uist and Eriskay ('the Area'), by associating with and providing assistance to voluntary organisations, charities, local authorities and other bodies, in order to:- 3.1.1 provide relief from financial hardship and social and/or economic disadvantage. 3.1.2 advance the education of residents of the Area of all ages. 3.1.3 advance citizenship among the residents of the Area. and 3.1.4 prevent or relieve poverty.
