SWAN ￿rned to holding "in-person. ne￿OrkIng events. after a prolonged pause relating to the Covid pandemic. Ourfir5t event tcok place ￿ 24th November. We were very kindly hosted by Geryge wats￿,5 College, Edinburgh for our'Are You Being Served. event. We heard from ￿￿r friends at Equalrty Ne￿Ork about their Rainbow Mark accreditation scheme and from George Watson's College *out their schcol DiV￿54ty and Indusion programmes. Moving into earty 2023, our nexl event'our History: Real Voices" held to mark LGBT History Month look place at the unive￿itY of Edinburgh and fealured speakets talking abcMJt their stories of Lothian Gay and Lesbian Switchboard from a volunteer and service user perspective. We were also given exelusive access to historic LGBT community resources held in the Lothian Heath Se￿￿e$ Archive. and heard about the work to gather, document and ujrate these rare and precious parts of LGBT histw in Edinburgh. Finally. OUT last event of this charity year was held on 9th June. hosted by (Mjr friends at SQA and featured Scottish Adoption. who held a fascinating Sessi¢￿ on adoption for LGBT+ people. We were also privileged to hear from fyyo LGBT+ couples on their experience of adoption. Finally. following a direcl approach to SWAN. our Chair was invited to speak at a Pnde lunch at the offices of Sheppard Robson. Architects in Glasgow (m the hist¢xy of Pride celetKats'ons in the days before Mardi Gla August 2023. Dunng this period. we have continued to meet as a Board of Trustees and have taken the wportuntty to retain Vi￿al meetings lo maximise Trustee attendance and minimise unnecessary travel. Financial review Brief statement of the charty's policy on reserves The tharity aims to maintain at least £500 in reserves in order to ffijnd future expendtiure. It aims to rnaintain reserves in excess of this minimum. by seeking grants and donations, ineome from Community Lottery sales and by sharing costs of events with hosts and raising funds at those events or by donatic￿.
