Preserve and interpret and communicate Orkney's maritime heritage, in particular by collecting and preserving historic Orkney boats.

Objectives: The Society’s purposes are: To advance the preservation, interpretation and communication of Orkney maritime heritage. To achieve these purposes, the Society will: 1. Collect, restore and preserve boats built in Orkney or that have contributed to Orkney life. 2. Collect, restore and preserve maritime artefacts related to Orkney maritime heritage. 3. Manage the collection of boats and artefacts in a sustainable manner. 4. Build and maintain a set of tools, materials and equipment required to support the restoration and preservation of boats and artefacts in the collection. 5. Restore and preserve the boats and artefacts in the collection using traditional boat building skills and crafts. 6. Preserve traditional boat building skills and crafts through support for education and training. 7. Research and publish information about the boats and artefacts in the collection or related to Orkney maritime heritage. 8. Educate the public about Orkney maritime heritage. 9. Establish a boat museum in Orkney through which the boats, artefacts and related knowledge can be interpreted and communicated to the public.
