The annual accounts comprise the Flnanclal Ststements, the Treasurer's Notes, the Trustees Repor¢ and the Independent Report. They meet the Charltles Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2CQ6 as described by the Charity Regulator's Gulde. The Treasurer has prepared the Flnancial Ststements on the reIpts and payments basls as the Societys Income Is below the threshold requirln8 accounts to be prepared ry) an accrua5s basis. 2. The Soclety had a full sthedule of phy51cal meetln8s In the Herlts8e cent over the wlnter months In the year under revlew and the membership fees and members donatlons reflett thls. Membershlp fees and members, donatlons In the year 2024125 totalled £447 as many members pald more than the £6 mlnlmum annual membershlp fee. It was a8reed that annual membershlp fee would rlse to £8 with effect from October 2025. Members, donations of more than thelr annual membershlp fee have been treated as part of the 5UPPOrt glven by members to DfoD@rly i@fl@rt thoir v31u@d contribution to the work of the Society. 3. The physlcal work to the Yetholm Herlts8e Centre carried out during the financial year was routine maintenance of the property. 4. No new items of hardware were bought but the software licence fee was paid on renewal. The Soclety had hlgh ener bills durln8 the year but has ne8Otiated a new contract wlth lower prlces. 5. Because of an upgrade to the banklng account, the annual Insurance premlum for the year ahead was pald after the year end and wlll be Shown in the next Set of annual accounts. Insurance remained in place thrOU)0ut the period under review and 15 in place for 2025126. 6. The plans to Improve exterlor storage of chairs to free up space durlng the exhlbltlons and discusslons were pro8ressed. A grant of £500 was obtalned from Charity Begin5 At Home, a locally based charity. for use in that purpose. It was used after the year end in paymentfor the initlal groundworks requlred for the new stora8e fadllty. The balance ofthe costs of the works wlll be buying a sultable stora8e structure and erectin8 IL The trustees intend to seek grant fiJndin8 and contrlbutlons from members. 7. The Soclety dld not pay remuneration or expenses to Trustees or any person connected with a Trustee. There were no transactions with persons connected wlth a Trustee.

The Sodety had a lar8er than usual amount of cash in hand at the year end because of cash donatlons received immediately before the year end and it was subsequently banked wlth Bank of Scotland. There was a wlde-ran8ln8 serles of slx tslks durln8 the year 2024125 by vlsltln8 speakers wlth authorlty on toplcs as dlverse as The Late Bronze Age Peebles Hoard, the nlneteenth century Berwlck to Kelso Railway projec¢ the Roman army assault on Burnswark Hill clrca 140 AD, the 1939-45 Evacuatlon of the Border Countles, the Ilves of farm servants In South East Stland 1750-1914, and an update on the Halterburn excavations to date. Each of these events was presented by a reco8nised authorlty In their respective fields and in some cases included the opportunity to buy a book bv the speaker. All werevery well attended and each finished with a Ilvely setof questlons to the speaker from those present. The Soclety thus contlnued to fulftl its purpose set out in paragraph 6 below. 3. The Yetholm Heritsge Centre was again open to the publicfrom Aprll 2025 to the end of September between IOam4.30pm. The exhibition focusseo on 'Pedigree ond Pestilence, and looked at the how Foot and Mouth disease had afferted the area, Including the Oxnam memorial, and on local herds of pedigree cattle as well as audio recordings of the memories of local people with experience of it. The Audlo Frame whlch had been bought by the Society in the prlor year was Invaluable for thi5. The exhibition attratted a welcome number of vlsitors. There were very positive comments on the exhibition, verbally and wrltten comments In Wsltors, Book. Vlsitors took time both to Ilsten to the recordings on the Audlo Frame and to read prlnted materlals and dlsplays. 4. In addltlon the Soclety as usual booked a stand atthe Yetholm Bordershepherds, show In October but the show was cancelled due to bad weather. 5. The Trustees at the date of thls Report were.. Cash reserves held in the General Fund and the Archlve Fund are unrestrirted. The Archive Fund is to help us acqulre, store, prote¢ display and copy material. There is also the Hall Fund and Publication Fund, both are restrlcted funds In that some of the monies were donated for those purposes only.
