Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the financial period
	In the reporting period, the For Bute Community Thrift Store has continued to enjoy increased success due to the much larger new premises and the shop’s prominent position facing the seafront promenade, not far from the town centre and the ferry terminal. For Bute has continued to increase the scale of the donations made to the organisations who apply for support. In particular, For Bute has over the past two years provided substantial grants to the hugely successful Bute Noir crime fiction festival (now a charitable initiative), and the Bute Arts Society, which runs a diverse range of concerts throughout the season. Sponsorship has continued for Bute Island Radio, Beachwatch Bute, the Bute Wheelers cycling club, the Lade Centre (for the elderly, ill and disabled), the island’s various bowling clubs and competitions, Scottish and Irish dancing clubs, a wide variety of sporting clubs (shinty, football etc) as well as travel expenses for Bute students in dancing, piping and sporting competitions. Local schools, Bute Animal Rescue, the Bute Pipe Band and Bute Community Band, are among many other applicants. Applications are handed in at the shop, and are held til monthly decisions are made. Applications can be seen at the shop until that time. All donations are covered in the Isle of Bute News in order to publicise the outcomes of public support for For Bute and its activities. For Bute remains the only charity on the island that has no paid employees; operations at the Community Thrift Store are supported by a network of volunteers who manage, stock and run the shop and help with pick up and delivery of donations, house clearances etc. None of the staff or trustees receive remuneration, and no money from the shop has gone toward the purchase of the vehicle used for collections and deliveries. For Bute volunteers are largely retired, and being part of the team in such a busy and large shop keeps them involved and active in community life.

Financial review

Financial review
Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves Details of any deficit Donated facilities and services (if any)	For Bute carries the financial responsibility for any repairs to its extensive shop premises, which is in a conservation area and affected by age, winter storms etc. Our reserves are held to cover any unforeseen emergencies and generally total at least two years’ rent for premises, insurances, utility bills and water rates.
	For Bute has no deficit, as we always keep a running reserve.
