Objectives and activities The Romanian Orthodox Church in Glasgow is a charity whose main objective is to support the Romanian Community in Glasgow in terms of social, civic, cultural and religious aspects by- promoting the inclusion of people of Romanian origin in the civil of life of Scotland, the Supporting Organization of religious, cultural and philanthropic activities according to Scottish Law and the Traditions of the Orthodox Church, promoting a positive image of Romania in Scotland, promoting opportunities for people in Glasgow to be exposed to the Romanian arts, heritage, religion and culture. The aim of our projects is to create a welcoming environment for a wider range of community activities" Social and civic activities Cultural activities Religious activities
structure, governance and management Governing Document The charity was formed by constitution and was granted charitable status from 1 June 2011. The unincorporated charity was transferred into this SCIO on 8 November 2012. The charity is now a SCIO. The charity changed its name changed its name from 'The Romanian Orthodox Church in Scotland, to 'The Romanian Orthodox Church in Glasgow, in 2016. Trustee recruitment and appointment On the 19 of March 2023, two members joined the board of trustees. The names are as follow.
Objectives and Activities Support the organisation of religious, cultural and philanthropic activities in accordance with Scottish law and the traditions of the Orthodox Church. Providing means to educate the public in the Orthodox faith, Romanian culture and language Provide spiritual support to other Orthodox communities in Scotland, regardless of their nationality. Advancing citizenship by promoting equality and diversity and promoting arts and culture. Promoting the integration of people of Romanian origin into civil life in Scotland. Promoting a positive image of Romania in Scotland
Achievements and performance During the financial period 2024-25 the charity purchased a Church building in Paisley. This has been a big achievement for the charity and the church community who worked closely together to make this happen. Much support was received from a vast number of orthodox communities and churches within the UK and abroad. Financial review statement of the charity's policy on reserves The church policy for holding reserves (money in the bank) Details of any deficit There is no deficit Donated facilities and services NIA Future plans Since the purchase of the new church, various works have been caried out, such as, restructuring and refurbishing parts of the building as well as the surrounding areas. This has been achieved by the substantial input of the community who worked very hard to make the church a welcoming place of worship and a pla where people can spend time together socialising. Various fund-raising events took pla over the last few months, including cake baking, children's activity days and so on. Facilities such as a kitchen and dining area have been established as well as a children's area and toilet upgrading, etc The Romanian school has also progressed well" it became a registered charity with its own area within the church. The children have been involved in various school events, competitions and took part in various courses and classes over the past few months.
Going fopNard, the charity's aims are to thrive spiritually and continue to maximise the use of all the facilities comprising the church buildings. This can already be evidenced due to the continuous devotion and input of the community.
