Arran Junior Sailing Club was started over 40 years ago to give School children on the Isle of Arran the opportunity to learn to sail and gain confidence in the sea. All School aged children from Primary 7 to senior 6th year are welcome to join the club. The club runs on Tuesday evenings from Easter to Summer Holidays and from Summer Holidays to the October break. The club uses the premises of Arran Yacht Club for teaching, changing facilities and equipment storage, They also carry the required insurances, all this free of charge. The Club owns 2 rescued boats and a fleet of sailing dinghies including Pico's. Feva's and Bahia's. In the last year the club has fundraised and purchased a new rescue boat. The club also runs power boat courses for older pupils and adults. The Club is currently fundraising to try to replace some of the older Pico dinghies. In the past year some students attended an OYT trip and some gained RYA certificates. Some students make a career out of Sailing
