APPENDIX 1 Achievements and performance Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the financial period This focused on the completion of the 3wd and final year of the Corra Foundation (Scottish Government) Small Grants Program, which ended in April 2022. The 'ETAT- Changu Pamakn. Malawi project was lo SUPFM)rt the up-skilling of tsjt￿ in c￿der for them to provide essential paediatn"c emergency care IETAT- Emergency Triage Assessment and Treatment) to nursing students. in addition to the ongoing training for clinical officer and medical a55￿tant students. Training the trainers: Following disruption due to the pandemic, we ran further TOTlrefresher training in July 2021 training 45 tutors. including 22 new tutor5 from Malamulo, Blantyre and Lilongwe114 new tutors from Malamulo, 5 from antyre and 3 from LilongNe) In total. 53 new tutors were trained auoss 3 years of projec( building AT teaching eapacty at all four campuses. An end of proiect target was to improve kye-service ￿AT training. And so an AST ￿Urse was estsblished which improved clinical skills and simulation training in all instructors as assessed by exlemal monitors and in post-course sknlls assessment. This AST course was designed and ready for delivery in March 2020 when the pandemic hit. 2 AST courses were run at MCHS Lik)ngNe and Malamulo College in July 2021. Training future nurses: We were able to complete 5 nursing courses between May 2021 and the completion of the proiect. This included one course in Malamulo151 students), ￿ I￿nI nurSIn￿cCm courses in Blantyre136 nursing students), one community nursing course in LilorKJwe {16 students) and nalty one cwrse in Zomba174 students). Despite delays and d￿llenge$ due to industrial action, the pandemic and severe flooding, we were able to deliver 7 nursing ETAT courses, training 295 nursing stthlents, over Ihree years. Training Medical sthdents: Theie was an identtfied local need to urgenljy train a group of clinical medicine students (Diplcrfna of Clinical Medicine IDCMI, and Certificate of Clinical Medicine, CCMI, pnmanty a larger than usual clinical year group at Malamulo College. These s￿dentS were due to graduate in late 20201earty 2021 having missed key clinical attachments due to the pandemic. In the absence of this din￿al experience. simulatson prc*Jrammes such as our ETAT prc#Jramme assume even greater importance. As we adapted to thi5 cOmp￿X situatiC￿ and considered local priorities we delwered 15 ETAT courses for these dinical medicine students, training 703 students in 2021. In total. in three years we have provided 998 healthwe sludents with the skills to save lives. During the fiscal year, the trustees were made aware of allegations against the Principal of the Malawi College of Health Sciences, in his role as the Project Manager of ETAT. As a consequence. a full audit of the operation of the ETAT bank account was made by The Controller of The Internal Audit SeNI￿S, Office of the President and Cabinet. As part of my audit, I have reviewed the Audttors report.
