The church is a registered Scottish Charity SC038181 Aims and Affiliation The Free Church of Scotland currently has over 100 congregations in Scotland, as well as one in London and four in Nojth America, and sisier Chuwhes founded by mission work in India, Peru and South Africa. The Church also has a seminary kn Edinburgh for the trdiningof Minist¢rs and otherchristian workers and sustains an extensive Missionary program relative to the size of the church. Dating from 1843 but wilh its roots in ihe ReforntIOn, it owes its distinctive title to its historical struggle to remain 'free' from sthie interference in its internal affairs. It has close and active relations with many other Reforn)ed churches of Jesus Cfftwist throughout the world and stands finnly in the tradicion whi¢h accepts the Bible in its eniireiy as the Word of God and, therefoie. derives its forms of teaching. worship, ministry and govemment from it. The main emphasis of our worship is the preaching of the gospel- the good news of a free and sovereign salvation through Jesus Chrisi alone. Mull and Coll Free Church of Scotland is a congregation of the Free Church of Scotlalld working towards the common aitns set oui below. It is a Presbcrlan church adhering in its worship at)d doctrine to the position of the Church of Scotland ai the Refor]nation. The Free Church of Scotland has at) explanatory document which explains the origins of the Church and which gives the historical background to the Church coming into being in 1843 and lists docurnenls in which is embodied the constitution of the Church. This do¢utnent is available on request from the Free Church of Scoiland, 15 North Bank Street, The Mound, Edinburgh. EHI 2LS. The congregation ha5 an Interim-moderaior appointed by the presbytery, who is Rev Rolxrt Douglas Cranston. The InteTirn-Moderdtor is paid from the central llds of the National Church. The church has one butlding which is the property of the wngregation and is held under the Church's Model Tjusi De¢d. Trustees and OlCe Bearers The church is Presbyterian in government at]d its day to day Nnning is undertaken by the Elders (the Kirk Session) and the Deacons {the Deacons Court). The Deacon's Court's specific function relates tts the material and financial business of the congregation. whereas the Elders are charged with the general and spiriiual oversight of the congregaiion. IEt IS the accepted practice for the elders to also be in membership of ihe Deacons court.l. Under Charity Law, the Deacons. Court are deemed to be the tsustees of the congregation. This is distinct from the role of property Icongregationall truste¢s who are responsible only for holding property in tn]st. Resullsfor Iheyear As a result of a sllrplus for the year of £2,170, the ¢hur¢h held unrestricted General Fund amounting to £16,264 a5 w¢ll as cash fvnds of £1 R6,216 held centrally. R¢speetive responsibilitie5 of trustees examiner The ¢hariry's trustees (who are also the directors ofthe company for the purposes of company lawl are responsible for the preparation of the a¢¢ounis in accordance with the tern15 of the ChaTIties and Trustee Investment (Scotlandl Act 2005 and th¢ ChaTjties Accounts (Scoilandl Regulations 2006. The charity [nte¢S ¢onsider that the audit requiiement of Rtgulation l 0111 la) ¢0 Ic) of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibslity to examine the accounts as required under seciion 44(1) Icl of the Act and to state whether pafficular matters have cOe to my attention. Basis of independeDt examlner's stat¢rnent My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation I l of the 2006 Accounts RegulatioRs. An examination includes a review of the accounting re¢ords kept by the charity and a comparison of the account5 presented with those records. Tt also include5 consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations frorn the trustees con¢erntng any such matters. The procedures undertaken do tjot provide all the evidence that would be required in an audii, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
