Highlands Astronomical Society (HAS) exists to promote and extend the awareness of, interest in, and enjoyment of astronomy within a friendly and stimulating environment. We host educational, practical and social activities in the area around the inner Moray Firth, accessible to all ages and level of knowledge. Our main base is at the Jim Savage-Lowden Observatory, a fully equipped astronomical observatory based at Culloden Battlefield. We also hold monthly Club Meetings at Smithton Church Café, Inverness. We host a varied programme of meetings, activities and events. This includes talks by expert guest speakers, social events, schools and event outreach, and observing sessions open to the public. We are regularly in touch and share events and information with our sister clubs, SIGMA in Moray and the Caithness Astronomy Group. HAS also aims to contribute worthwhile observational data to national and international astronomical organisations.

Objectives: To advance education and extend awareness of, and interest in, all branches of astronomy and cosmology in the Highlands of Scotland.
