Provide Facilities for Community Use

Objectives: 1) To provide in the interests of social welfare, facilities within Musselburgh and environs ('the Operating Area') for recreation and other leisure time occupation available to the public at large with a view to improving their conditions of life. 2) To advance education, particularly among residents of the Operating Area. 3) To promote training in skills of all kinds principally among residents of the Operating Area, and with particular reference to such skills as will assist the participants in obtaining paid employment. 4) To relieve poverty, particularly among the residents of the Operating Area. 5) To relieve unemployment, particularly among residents of the Operating Area, for the public benefit in such ways as may be thought fit, including assistance to find employment 6) To relieve the needs of people (and particularly those resident in the Operating Area) suffering from mental and/or physical disability, illness or impairment or who have particular needs by reason of old age or current or past drug, solvent and/or alcohol abuse, and their carers and families 7) To help young people, particularly those resident in the Operating Area, to develop their physical, mental and spiritual capacities, such that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and as members of society 8) To encourage, stimulate and support volunteering principally in the Operating Area 9) To preserve, restore and improve the environment within the Operating Area through the provision, maintenance and/or improvement of public open space and other public amenities and other environmental and townscape regeneration projects (but subject to appropriate safeguards to ensure that the public benefits so arising clearly outweigh any private benefit thereby conferred on private landowners) 10) To promote for the public benefit the preservation (whether wholly or in part) of buildings and other structures of historic and/or architectural significance within the Operating Area
