Scottish Mediation is set up to deliver excellence in mediation, to promote mediation and to be a resource for the public to understand what mediation and how to access it. To achieve this we operate the Scottish Mediation Register with the accompanying standards and professional code to support it. We provide training and CpD to mediators. We operate a public helpline and seek to extend the use of mediation through policy and seminar activity.
Objectives: 4.1 The objects of the Charity are, for the public benefit, to advance the education, promote the welfare, and relieve the needs of the population of Scotland and elsewhere by the promotion of mediation and other related forms of conflict management and prevention of all kinds of dispute. In furtherance thereof but not otherwise, the Charity will seek to:- 4.1.1 encourage awareness, understanding and appropriate use of mediation and other related forms of conflict management and prevention. 4.1 .2 support and promote education, training and research in skills and best practice in the use of mediation and other related forms of conflict management and prevention. 4.1.3 create and encourage links among the various fields of mediation and related forms of conflict management and prevention. and 4.1.4 promote and organise standards of professional conduct and training in the fields Of mediation and related forms of conflict management and prevention .
