The Charity was set up by Broxburn and Livingston Band and
was recognised as a Scottish Charity with effect from 2005.
The Charity is administered in accordance with the terms of
the Constitution of Broxburn and Livingston Band.
The Trustees were those appointed at the A.G.M. The position
of President (Chairman), Vice President (Vice Chairman),
Secretary and Treasurer are elected by members at the A.G.M
and each shall be one of the Trustees of the Band.
Appointment and removal is in accordance with the existing
Constitution.

in relation to these objects
The purpose of the charity is to advance the education of the public in the
art of music and in particular brass band instrumental music and the
musical arts in general by the presentation of public performances and
other related activities, to encourage and promote youth development
within the Band, through providing suitable musical and instrumental
tuition, to encourage and promote community development and awareness
within the District through providing suitable musical and instrumental
tuition and through public performances.
The Band continues to be available to the Community at large for all
functions and Church Services etc.
We have participated in recruiting young band members and providing
tuition and encouragement and organise competition at the appropriate
level of competence.

Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of
the charity during the financial period
The band have enjoyed a full calendar of activities this year.
These have included a successful series of concerts with the
Edinburgh Telephone Choir, Gala Days in Fauldhouse, Deans,
Mid Calder, Uphall, Winchburgh & Broxburn; and a number of
concerts in Broxburn, Balerno, & Heriot Watt University.
The band also competed in a number of contests during the
year including West of Scotland, National Championships of
Great Britain and the Scottish Championships.
Future Brass, the band’s development group, continue to do
well, enjoying a number of performances and engagements
throughout the year, including many alongside the senior
band.

The unrestricted funds represent income earned but not yet
utilised in pursuit of their activities. At 31 March 2025 the
charity held £14,695. The Trustees discussed this and
consider the balance appropriate to allow them to pursue the
functions of the Band and provide a service to the community
and continue their obligations to youth development.
Over the period 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025 the Band were
please to record a surplus of £2,323. This was in part due to
successful application for and receipt of £1,350 in local
councillor disbursement funding which contributed to
expenses incurred while representing the country at the
National Championships of Great Britain.
