Dunnet Forestry Trust was set up to manage Dunnet Forest, now Dunnet Community Forest, for the local community and visitors to the area. We ensure the safety of the extensive, over 100km, system of public paths by clearing windthrown trees and maintaining the condition of these paths. In addition, the Forest is a base for numerous public activities, some provided by the Trust eg weekly volunteer sessions for maintenance and improvement work, but also provided by other local groups eg to improve mental health through contact with the outdoors. The windthrown trees extracted from the Forest are processed int various forms of wood fuel and sold at monthly public sales. The generates income for the Trust to use to pay the wages of two part time employees and the associated costs of work in the Forest.
