Organisation lconlinued) As part d the Presbytery of Ar￿1'S,8a￿S for Parish Grouping., UCB fomis a parish grouping th Rothesay Trinity {Church of Seodand) on subjects such as joint worship and training.. the Minister also liaises with all other c￿stian churches and Christian Fellowships on the island, including some shared worship. The United Churth of Bute also L￿Operate5 with Bule Churches Together. The General Assembly in 2021 passed a Presbytery PlannirvJ Act requiring all Presbyteries to submit updated Presbytery Plans during 2022 based on a reduced number of ministerial posts and an assessment of all thureh buildings. The UCB actively participated in this process. In June 2022 the Presby1ery of ￿gY11 decided that the ￿ congregations on Bute should unite into a single congregation U￿ng the present UCB buildings and the Rothesay Trinity buildings would be diswsed of. In late August 2022 the Kirk Session of Rothesay Trinity church exercised their right to appeal against the process fdlowed leading to this decision. On 7th March 2023 UC8 heard that the appeal by Rothesay Trinity had been rejected and that the union should pr¢xeed as previousty deoded. The Kirk Se$sc￿$ of both corKJregation$ agreed the Basis of Union. Congregational voles were taken in vthich the congregation of Rothesay Trinty narrc￿Y rejected the basis of union. The Presbytery of ￿gY11 decided to intervene using powers granted in the Presby1ery Mission Planning Act and 1 November 2023 unanimously d￿"ded to implement the Presbytery Mission Han for Bute lo secure the union of the congregations no later than 1 July 2024 to form the Isle of BLrte Parish Church. 5. It exists to glorify God and to work for the advancement of Chrisfs Kingdom throughout the wodd. As a nakn'onal Church, it acknovledges a distinctive call and duty to bring the ordinances of rdigion lo the people in every parish of Scodand through a territorial ministry. It cO￿perate5 wrth other Churches in various ecumenical bodies in Scotland and beyond. lil) The United Church of Bute worships ￿ SurKlays at 11am. lili) From 22￿$ March 2020 onwards the churth has prowded a streamed semce online by way of a YouTube channel now organised by the Mission & Outreach Convener. This is supported by the Organist and indudes regular contributK)ns from members of the congregation's worship teams. This has proved popular wrth up to 75 people viewng each week from the Island of Bute and the wder worfd. liv) There are branches of ￿ Guikl: a Pass-ft-on Group", a Str￿￿rs & Striders group; and a Fundraising Committee which arranges events throughout the year. The total from these for 2022 was £46.053 plus £8.824 recoverable from HMRC for tax relief on Grft Aided donations. In addition, there was hall rental income of £8,798. Traceable Trustee donations, included in the offering r￿ures, amunted to £16,254 lexcluding Gift Aid tax reliefj - No legaaes were re￿Ved in 2023. There remained a number of members who continue to follow the online services as they had not felt able to retum to in•erson mcffjing worship. In ADril the congregats'on were provided with the opportunity to send their offerings by cheque directly to the Treasurer or pay by bank transfer. This resulted in a generous response. Athough everything was delayed by the pandemic, an architect was apwinted, and tenders prepared. The tender reFQrt received at the end of 2021 was discouraging in terms of the pri￿5 quoted shwng a 67% increase fr￿n the original costr.ngs in 2018. This rewesented an increase of around £50,000 in the amount required. While KlentiFication of further sources of funding continues. it only became possible to consider restarting this project wth the final decision to foryn the Isle of Bule Pansh Church in 2024. With the fomation of the Isle of Bute Parish Church there wll be only one Minister living in the Rothesay Trinity manse. The UCB manse, which is too large and energy inefficient, is being sold. This was agreed by Argyll Presbytery and the Churth of Scotland General Trustees. At the end of 2023 the manse was under offer. The sale went through on 28° FebNary 2024. Funds received will be held by the General Trustees on behatf of the Congregation. 8.
