The Federation provides support to its membership of rural village and community halls, organising meetings and workshops and developing projects that will help them better manage their halls for the benefit of their local communities. It distributes support grants to the membership on behalf of the local authority. It acts as representative for member halls with other Scottish village/community hall federations.

Objectives: The objects for which the Federation is established are to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the former Roxburgh District without distinction of sex, political, religious or other opinions by advancing education and in the interests of social welfare, providing or assisting in the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants
