Activities

'It carries out activities or services itself'

'the advancement of citizenship or community development','the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended','the promotion of equality and diversity','the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage','any other purpose that may reasonably be regarded as analogous to any of the preceding purposes'

The club provides some of Midlothian’s most vulnerable adults with an affordable and accessible opportunity to engage in more healthy lifestyles by providing opportunities for social and educational opportunities in a relaxed club environment. Social activity is a vital component of physical and mental health and wellbeing. Our club provides weekly activities and an external social outing each term. Weekly the club has between 40 and 50 participants (including members and volunteers). Members have the opportunity weekly to attend a cooking class, a computing group, a music group or to participate in crafts and games or to spend time in the club socialising with other members. In addition, the club meets the cost of an annual visit to the panto each December, a Christmas party, an entertainment night around Easter and subsidises the cost of an end of session meal out in June – social activities that are rare opportunities for our members.

Beneficiaries: 'Older People','People with disabilities or health problems'

Objectives: (a) To encourage the integration of the physically handicapped persons resident in the area and thus to relieve the isolation of such persons by bringing them in to closer association with able-bodied people and by the provision of, or assistance in the provision of, facilities for recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life of such persons. (b)To advance education by bringing disabled people in to closer association and integration with able-bodied people so that the former will have opportunities for overcoming their disabilities and the latter will benefit from such association and integration
