to assist in securing the establishment of new or enhanced electricity supplies to such inhabitants by subsidising electricity connections, and those related to non profit distributing community based projects, including alternative or renewable energy sources, where the connection costs would be such as to prevent the project taking place.

Objectives: The Trustees shall hold the capital of the Trust Fund and apply the income therefrom for the charitable purpose of the advancement of citizenship or community development in Scotland in terms of section 7(2)(f) of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 (as may be amended or re-enacted from time to time), to provide or assist in the provision of facilities of general public utility in the interests of social welfare and rural regeneration with a view to improving the condition and life of the inhabitants of that area of Scotland in which SSE plc or its successors (through its wholly-owned subsidiaries, namely being Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution PLC and Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission Limited or their successors) are authorised by the Secretary of State in terms of the Electricity Act 1989 (as may be amended or re-enacted) to transmit and distribute electricity, all as shown coloured yellow on the map in Appendix 1 attached to this summary and signed as relative hereto (“the authorised area”) and, in particular: (i) to secure or assist in securing the establishment of new or enhanced electricity supplies in the authorised area by subsidising electricity connections, and those related to alternative or renewable energy sources, to non-profit-distributing community projects, which are commensurate with the scale of the community and its energy requirements. and (ii) to make awards in the authorised area towards funding for domestic electricity connections, and those related to alternative or renewable energy sources. where there would be a positive impact on the community if the project were to go ahead. Declaring that, unless and until given prior approval in writing by SSE plc or its successors to do otherwise, the Trustees shall apply the income of the Trust Fund more or less equally between projects falling within (i) and (ii) above, all in accordance with such guidelines as SSE plc or its successors may provide to the Trustees at any time and from time to time.”
