YMCA Gatehouse has two branches, a youth Drop In Centre and a Charity Shop which provides funds for youth work services delivered through the Drop In. Through most of this financial year the Drop In ran two sessions a week led by paid youth workers. The sessions provided outdoor activities, ball games, tennis, swimming, cycling, litter picking and picnics. Indoor sessions included games, crafts, lessons in nutrition and kitchen skills, food preparation and hygiene and shared meals. The Charity Shop is open 6 days a week and is staffed and managed by approximately 25 volunteers who benefit from the opportunity to meet people. The shop is valued as a place where there is a warm welcome. Prices are kept low to support low income families in town and care is taken to recycle things not sold.
