Activities

'It carries out activities or services itself'

'the advancement of education','the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage'

Under the management of Recovery Scotland North Lanarkshire and Forth Valley Recovery Communities host daily events and regular activities that support people in various stages of recovery from unhelpful addictive behaviours. Attendance is voluntary and the community is open to anyone who is seeking recovery, in recovery, has a family member affected by addiction or is a champion of our cause. The Recovery communities have been developed to complement treatment and support services and encourage involvement with any type of mutual aid. They are not an alternative for other interventions but run alongside these services to enhance and support the recovery journey. We also work along side psychological and justice services to provide specialist LE support and have an outreach team in FV to engage with those people who are hardest to reach.

Objectives: 3.1 to provide a comprehensive and co-ordinated range of community services designed to meet the special needs of those affected by alcohol and drug related problems (herein referred to as substance misuse) and those affected by other addictive behaviours, and to promote the development of facilities as required as an integral part of such services. 3.2 to increase public knowledge of the extent of substance misuse and other addictive behaviours, their damaging effects on the individual, the family, society and the economy, and to initiate and support action to combat the problems of substance misuse and addictive behaviours. 3.3 to promote service and facilities, information, education, training and research in regard to the prevention, early recognition and diagnosis and treatment and response of substance misuse and addictive behaviours without advocating or specifying any particular method of treatment or response. 3.4 to work in partnership in addressing health inequalities, poverty and social exclusion.
