Objectives and activities

Charitable purposes The SCIO charitable purposes are for the advancement of citizenship and community development. The Village Hall is managed as a community asset providing recreational facilities and the organisation of recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of village life aiming to foster a strong community spirit | Summary of the main activities The Village Hall provides facilities for sports like badminton, squash in relation to these objects pilates, pickleball and karate. The Hall is used for meetings, Art Club Xplorers Club, coffee mornings, lunches, book sales, birthday parties, Healthy Living Group, First Aid courses, First Responders, private events Table Top sale, Tractor Run, Xmas Fair, Curry/Quiz night and music events. The Hall is also used by the Community Council and by the Loca Council as a local polling station in elections

Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of
the charity during the financial period
We have had a very busy year both with bookings, events, maintenance, a
kitchen refurbishment and a new stage drop system for the stage
We have had a successful year with an increase in number and variety of
bookings, including regular Hall use by Healthy Living, Xplorer's, Kirk
Meetings and Services, Thursday Lunch Club, Coffee Mornings,
Community Council meetings, Loch Melfort and Kilninver Company
meetings, Kilninver Newsletter meetings, badminton squash, Pilates
karate, art club, First Responders training and various other meetings The
Hall was also used for varied additional private events including a
Christening, a Funeral Service, a Wedding rehearsal, a Tractor Rally, and
a First Aid Course. We also organised various Hall fundraising events
including monthly Coffee Mornings (100 club), three book sales, a Table
Top sale,
a Xmas Fair and a curry/quiz night. We also organised an
Autumn series of four music concerts and a Spring series of five music
concerts which were very well attended
We have upgraded the kitchen facilities by extending the kitchen worktop,
adding extra stainless-steel shelving, increasing cupboard space, a new
fridge,
a new handwash sink,
a new commercial water boiler for
teas/coffees, and a new sliding doorwhich has all made the kitchen more
useable. We generously received a grant for this work and for a stage
drop system from Carraig Gheal Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund
We have also improved external disabled access from the fire exits by
installing a fully wheel chair accessible clearway and repaired/upgraded
the emergency lighting at the Hall. We are still developing a website for
the Village Hall which will help increase community participation. A busy
year!
