The Society was established to promote family history, genealogy and local history throughtout the Dumfries & Galloway Region. We opened the centre to allow people to come and get help to research their family history, a website was started to allow the wider world to research and buy booklets that we have on sale i.e. Monumental Incriptions, Census etc. We have Zoom talks for members of the Society given by people who have historical information about the region.
Beneficiaries: 'Other defined groups'
Objectives: The objectives of the Society,for the benefit and education of the publiv shall be : (a) To encourage the study of genealogy, heraldry and local history (b) To produce and regularly issue free to memebers a Newsletter. (c) To provide an educational programme of lectures, visits other activites connected with subjects to the Society. (d) To seek out, transcribe,index and where possible publish or material relevant to the interests of the Society. (e) Exchange inforrnation with other Societies. (f) Promote the preservation of documents and records relating to the Dumfries & Galloway Region.
