Sp￿dIng the word about what we do generalty is something that we need to work on. Creation Sunday was again a success￿1 demnstration that the thurches can make a drfference in the world. At this time of climate crisis. we need more and nK)re lo come together as ecumenical brothers and sisters and let the worfd know that we ￿re, and that we're doing something ab)ut IL The highlight of the year must be the vist to Glasgow of the parish priest of Gaza. ￿lISt not a GCT even( the Archdiocese kindly invitea us along. nEssage was inspiring and humbling al the same time and allowed us a glimpse into what is going on with the Christian community of Gaza. 2 Looking forward to 2025 and what a year tt should be.. It is the 850 Yea￿ annniersary of Glasgow becoming a Bishop's Burgh, and given cty status, many extra events will be taknng pla￿ to mark this annIve￿ry. 11 is also 1700 yearn since the first ecurrenical o)uncil of N￿ea. GCT has a direct link back to that firsl ¢oun¢il. We k)ok forward to mafking this anniversary too. These are all in addition lo the usual events that will take place annualty. 2025 promises to be a busy and fulfilling year for GCT. Flnally, at a recent o)mmittee rrEeting I raised the Tnatter of including the young people of the Glasgow churches in what we do al GCT. I believe we need to work out ways in wh￿h we can invO￿e young Christians from across the denominations and the uty- What that will look like, I don't know, but we need to get them involved, they are as much a part of the church as we, slightly, (￿der ones are. It was meant to be a l¢)¢al 'ACTS' and in many ways r( continues to realise that founding intention while accepting the limitations that our history and developing ecclesial cumures lay upon us. Over the past year, the group mel regularly and worked effectivety th the officer5 of the committee (Chair, V￿e-chaIr and Treasurer) and with the Ecumen￿[ 0￿er. The 'Music and Worship sub-committee, has also met several b'mes to plal) the major events of the year. the St. Mungo Festival, the Week of Prayer for Christian Unty, Glasgow, Ihe Welcoming City event Ihekl each year in June), St Andrew's Day, the Blessing of the Crib in George Square and Carols for Peace {held annually in Glasgovls City Chambers). Legal Status GCT was fonned by a constitutlon dated 24 February 1991. The constitution was updaled on 15 October 2012 Alms 1. This was an initiative of the Church Leaders group. Wh￿ was well aitended, the led the day, there were small discu￿On groups and input from o er contributors. a Q&A session followed by prayer rounded off the day. A short service was held in the Abtey, wh￿h was dedicated to the late Fr Willy Slavin, who had left us a small legacy. wh￿h we used to help wth co8ch hirE and to support the Ukrainian children, he would have been pleased with that. The Church Officerwelcomed us and gave us somg of the history of Mungo and the present church, Les Heal gave a history of Mungo and his mother St Enoch, it was fijn having it translated into Ukrainian. The Committee Members are satisfFed with the financial position. The principal source of income was the subscrtpb'ons paid by the member churches. Regerves Policy The Committee have established a policy whereby the unrestricted fvnds not committed or invested in langibie fixed assets {the Yree reserves'l held by the charity should be 3 months of the resources expended, which would normally equate to £5.000 in general funds. Al this level, the Committee feel that they would be able to continue the current athibes of the charity in the event of a swJnificant drop in fvnding. It would obviously be necessary to consider h(yrt the funding w¢)uld be replaced or the activities changed. At present the free reserves, which amount to £9,155 meet this level.
