COLJncil, especially one as big as Glasgows, to organise these events. In this world wherè all is doom
and gloom when Christian influence is concerne(J. we can be p￿aSed that we can go into those places
of power and authority and speak of the one with real authority. long may it continue. Perhaps we
need to let other towns and cilEs know Ihat this can aclualty hapFen. who knows the difference that
¢ould make when councils see the churches wothng together. Sp￿dIng the word about what we do
generalty is something that we need to work on.
Creation Sunday was again a success￿1 demnstration that the thurches can make a drfference in
the world. At this time of climate crisis. we need more and nK)re lo come together as ecumenical
brothers and sisters and let the worfd know that we ￿re, and that we're doing something ab)ut IL
The highlight of the year must be the vist to Glasgow of
the parish priest of
Gaza. ￿lISt not a GCT even( the Archdiocese kindly invitea us along. nEssage was inspiring
and humbling al the same time and allowed us a glimpse into what is going on with the Christian
community of Gaza. 2 Looking forward to 2025 and what a year tt should be..
It is the 850 Yea￿ annniersary of Glasgow becoming a Bishop's Burgh, and given cty status, many
extra events will be taknng pla￿ to mark this annIve￿ry.
11 is also 1700 yearn since the first ecurrenical o)uncil of N￿ea. GCT has a direct link back to that
firsl ¢oun¢il. We k)ok forward to mafking this anniversary too.
These are all in addition lo the usual events that will take place annualty. 2025 promises to be a busy
and fulfilling year for GCT.
Flnally, at a recent o)mmittee rrEeting I raised the Tnatter of including the young people of the
Glasgow churches in what we do al GCT. I believe we need to work out ways in wh￿h we can invO￿e
young Christians from across the denominations and the uty- What that will look like, I don't know, but
we need to get them involved, they are as much a part of the church as we, slightly, (￿der ones are.
So. we look forward to a great year in 2025, with all Ihe opportunities

GCT is a local Glasgow expression of the hopes and dreams of the member Churches that the Lord
will guide us. in His own go(xl time, towards the realisalion of the unty for which He prayed. It was
meant to be a l¢)¢al 'ACTS' and in many ways r( continues to realise that founding intention while
accepting the limitations that our history and developing ecclesial cumures lay upon us. Over the past
year, the group mel regularly and worked effectivety th the officer5 of the committee (Chair,
V￿e-chaIr and Treasurer) and with the Ecumen￿[ 0￿er. The 'Music and Worship sub-committee,
has also met several b'mes to plal) the major events of the year. the St. Mungo Festival, the Week of
Prayer for Christian Unty, Glasgow, Ihe Welcoming City event Ihekl each year in June), St Andrew's
Day, the Blessing of the Crib in George Square and Carols for Peace {held annually in Glasgovls City
Chambers).
Legal Status
GCT was fonned by a constitutlon dated 24 February 1991. The constitution was updaled on 15
October 2012
Alms
1. GCT was established for exclusivety charttable purtKJses primarity for the advan￿ment of religio
and to provide public benefit. Without prejudKX to the foregoing generality, GCT shall assist the
progress of inter<hurch relations in the Ctty of Glasgow with the aim of furthering the intentions of the
Swanwick Declarallon (www.ctbi.org.uk1203}in Ihe CA)mr￿n put5uit of partnership, understanding and
common mis5iOfl.
2. Without prejUd￿e to the generalty ol paragraph one above:
GCT will seek to foster relalKsnships within Glasg¢)w and will seek to bJild bridges within the said
Community wrth Sta￿tory, voluntary and cultural agencles.
GCT will seek to create means by whith worship. cdebration, study, missDn, projects and social
issues may be taken together.
GCT will promte inter-church co-operation and the sharing of re￿Jr￿S on the basis cf the mutual
consultation with regard to new ventures of mission Ihrwhout the Glasgow area.

Core members of GCT shall consist of The Churth of sCo￿and, The Methodist Church in Scotland,
The Roman Catholic Church, The Salvation Army, The Scottish Episcopal Church, The Unite(l Free
Church of Scodand, and The United Refonned Church.
4. Organisations and Agencies of the aforementioned Churches may appW for Associate Membership
of GCT.
5, There shall be Management Committee of GCT consisting of up to no more ihan six dolegales
nominated by The Chur¢h of Scotland.. up to no more than SLK delegates nominated by The Roman
Catholic Church., up lo no more than delegates nominated by the core churches above mentioned
in paragraph three not being The Church of Scolland or The Roman Catholic chU￿h and no rrK)re
than one delegate as representative of any Associate members. The Quorum for any meeting of the
Committee shall be six.
6. The Moderator of the Presbytery of Glasgow., The Roman Cathol￿ Archbishop of Glasgow., The
Scotdsh Episcopal Bishop of Glasgow and Galloway., The Superintendent of Ihe Glas9ow Methodist
Circuit,. The Dwisional Leader of The Safvation Army {￿st of Scotland}', The Clerk to the Presbytery
of the West of the United Free ChuTch', a nominated representative of the Synod of Scodand of the
UnSled Reformed Church., and. The Clerk to the GlasgLYw Presbytery of the Church of Scotland shall
be members ex officio of GCT.
The GCT Committ￿ will appoint members to the fOrkn￿Tr￿ posts at the Annual General Meeting.

15th June seen us embark on a pilgrimage to Culross, we filled fvK> coaches and were delighted to
have a broad mix from the denominations and a full coach of our Ukrair¢h3n friends from Glasgow and
Coalbridge. A short service was held in the Abtey, wh￿h was dedicated to the late Fr Willy Slavin,
who had left us a small legacy. wh￿h we used to help wth co8ch hirE and to support the Ukrainian
children, he would have been pleased with that. The Church Officerwelcomed us and gave us somg
of the history of Mungo and the present church, Les Heal gave a history of Mungo and his mother St
Enoch, it was fijn having it translated into Ukrainian. Thankfulty the day stsy8d dry for people lo lake in

projects and organizalions carying out this vital worf( and encouraging others to develop

parliament for the presentation to the wnners of the Excellence Awar(Is Programme.
Further involvement was wth Maggie's centre, Gartnavel Hospital, where an awareness rai&ng

The deficit on the General fiJnd for the year vras £2,000 12023.. deficit £4,375) which has been
nsferred lo reserves. The Committee Members are satisfFed with the financial position.
The principal source of income was the subscrtpb'ons paid by the member churches.
Regerves Policy
The Committee have established a policy whereby the unrestricted fvnds not committed or invested in
langibie fixed assets {the Yree reserves'l held by the charity should be 3 months of the resources
expended, which would normally equate to £5.000 in general funds. Al this level, the Committee feel
that they would be able to continue the current athibes of the charity in the event of a swJnificant drop
in fvnding. It would obviously be necessary to consider h(yrt the funding w¢)uld be replaced or the
activities changed. At present the free reserves, which amount to £9,155 meet this level.
Investment Power5 and Restrictions

I report on the fi'nancial statements for the year ended 31 July 2024, which comprise the slalemenl of
financial 8clivilie5. statement of financial position and the related notes.
Respective responsibilities of members and examlner
The charity's members are responsible for the prepaotion of the accounts in accordance with the
terms of the Charities and Trustee Inveslrnenl Iscollandl Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts
(Scollandl Regulations 2006. The charity members consider that the audit requirement of Regulation
1011llal lo Icl of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility lo examine the
accounts as required under section 4411}Icl of the Act and to slate whether particular matters have
come lo my allenlion.
Basis of independent examlner's report
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. An
examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the
accounts presented with those records. 11 also includes consideration of any unusual items or
disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the members concerning any such matters.
The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and
consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

These financial statements have been prepared in compliance with FRS 102, The Financial
Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, the Statement of
Recommended Practi￿ applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the
Finanoial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republ￿ of Ireland IFRS 1021 (Charities
SORP (FRS 102)) and the Charities and Twstee Investment Iscouand) Art 2005 and the Charity
Aocounts Iscoliand) Regulations 201X (as amended).

Basls of preparation
The financial statements have been prepared on the hiStOr￿al cost basis. as m¢xlified by the
revaluation of certain financial assets and liabilities and investment properties measured at fair
value through income or expenditure.
The financial statements are prepared in sterling, wh￿h is th8 functh)nal currency of the entity.

There are no material uncertainties alMJUt the charity's abilty to ¢ontinue.

The preparation of the financial ststements requires management to make judgements,
estirnales and assumptions thal affect the ani)unts reKK)ried. These estimates and judgements
are continually reviewed and are based on experience and other factors, inGluding expectations
of f￿Ure events that are believed lo be reasonable under the circum5tan(%s.

Unrestricted funds are available for use at the dtscretw)n of the trustees to further any of the

Carols for Peace.
Th8 full proceeds from the Carols for Peace servrce are gifted to charty. This year the collection
was £1,159. A total of £1,160 was gifted to The Lord Provosvs Children's Fund.
Glasgow the Welcoming City
The full proceeds of the Glasgow the Wekoming Cty servw were gffted to charity. This year

£474. A total of £475 was gifted lo The Uknainian Catholic Eparchy of the Hoty Family of London.
Season of Creation
The ftjll prO￿￿edS of the Glasgow the St Mungo Festival were gffted to charity. This year the
collection was £392. A total of £400 was gtfted WaterAid ScotIand.
ACTS
A grant of £1,826 was received from ACTS to cover the expenses for a conference held on
2012124 on the theme "Challenging Issues Facing Church Ministers in 2024. which was held in
Glasgow £1,860 was spent on the evenL
Culross Pllgrimage
A Pilgrimage lo Culross, the birth pla￿ of St Mungo. was orgnanised. A c¥)Ilection of £180 was
taken to partially cover the cost of the event The full cost was £1.320.
