Alexander M Williamson, who wished lo provide an annual prize to the law student at the University of Abwdeen who showed the tyeatesl proficiency in knowledge of case law in various branc. It was left to the &Kiety's Management Committee to draw up a scheme for administering the amount received which they dtd in consultalion wtth thè family. The Fund was later augmented by a bequest of£15.tY)O from Lady Williamson, the widow ofAlexander M Williamson's nephew Sir George Williamson. The Fund was registered as a charity from 1 January 1992.
