Alexander M Williamson, who wished lo provide an annual prize to the law student at the University of Abwdeen who showed the tyeatesl proficiency in knowledge of case law in various branc￿. It was left to the &Kiety's Management Committee to draw up a scheme for administering the amount received which they dtd in consultalion wtth thè family. The Fund was later augmented by a bequest of£15.tY)O from Lady Williamson, the widow ofAlexander M Williamson's nephew Sir George Williamson. The Fund was registered as a charity from 1 January 1992.
