'the advancement of education'

The Society awards grants providing financial assistance to individuals of Highland descent entering into a course of study in Glasgow or the West of Scotland. The Trustees invite applications annually from students at University and appraise these applications before confirming grant awards

Beneficiaries: 'Other defined groups'

Objectives: The objects of the Society shall be the advancement, improvement, promotion, development and maintenance of the education of persons of Highland extraction or descent undertaking academic or vocational study at an educational institution located within the 'G' postcode area by way of the provision of financial support in the form of grants , donations or gifts to such persons and/or institutions . For the purposes of this Article , a person of 'Highland extraction or descent' means a person who was (or one of whose parents was) born or brought up in one of the former Scottish counties of Argyll, Inverness, Ross and Cromarty, Sutherland or Caithness.
