The aims of the Highland Pony Society are to maintain the unimpaired purity of the Highland Pony Breed, to promote the breeding of highland ponies for riding, driving, showing and other purposes including forestry and farm work, to encourage the use of good sound stallions and superior brood mares, to promote the general interests of registered Highland Ponies and to encourage registration of pure-bred animals in the Society Stud Book. The Society is managed by a Council who meet regularly and consider projects and events to support these aims. Events held each year include Educational days for Members, Judges and those interested in the breed and our Annual Breed Show with 40 classes solely for purebred ponies. We organise a Performance Scheme and Youngstock Championship along with initiatives to encourage and support our younger members. We produce an annual Year Book with informative articles about the breed, statistics regarding breeding and photos and results from the year.
