The Trust provides grants to a range of charitable organisations undertaken a variety of charitable purposes each year. These donations are considered by members of the Maclean family who are Trustees of the Trust.

Objectives: The objects for which the Trust is established are to carry out such legally charitable purposes as the Trust shall from time to time decide and to make provision for the financial support of bodies which are charitable at law and as ancillary to the foregoing objects:- (A) To pay or apply the revenue or capital of the Trust or such portion thereof as the Trust shall from time to time in its sole discretion think fit to or for:- (i) the benefit of any charitable, cultural, educational, religious or welfare funds, societies, organisations and schemes or funds for the relief of poverty which have their domicile or headquarters or carry on their work in Scotland or other parts of the United Kingdom and which are charitable at Law. (ii) the relief of poverty in Scotland or other parts of Great Britain and Ireland. (iii) the training of persons who are untrained or who due to economic circumstances require to learn new trades and in this connection to pay the fees for instruction at any establishment in which persons are taught any trade or employment and to pay the expenses of travelling to and from any such institutions or establishment as aforesaid. (iv) the presentation production promotion organisation management and conduct of any such educational lectures programmes classes debates courses of instruction conferences libraries exhibitions and other forms of inculcating and disseminating knowledge as the Trust may think fit and the compilation printing production editing and publication of such periodical and other publications and ,works dealing with any aspect of the activities of the Trust as the Trust shall think fit and in connection with such educational lectures programmes classes debates courses of instruction conferences libraries or exhibitions as aforesaid to fix and charge such reasonable charges fees and prices (if any) as the Trust may think fit for admission and the like or for the sale of any publications or material and for the admission
