Clackmannanshire Heritage Trust was established to raise awareness of and interest in the county’s natural and built heritage assets in order to help protect, maintain and enhance them. It has sometimes acquired significant buildings and land, with a view to restoring and either retaining, leasing or selling them in order to ensure their sustainable preservation. The Trust has restored the Johnstone Mausoleum in Alva Old Kirkyard and Tullibody Old Kirk. It owns and maintains them and also Sauchie Tower. it continues to try to raise funds for its full restoration and a sustainable new use. The Trust opens its properties for guided tours on the annual Doors Open Days weekend, welcoming many visitors. It is dedicated to developing active engagement with other local heritage organisations, the local authority and the community, encouraging people to become involved in and supportive of its work and with a view to collaborating, where possible, on joint projects.

Objectives: The objects for which the Trust is established are to promote and encourage either on its own or in conjunction with others the maintenance and improvement of the amenity of the geographical area of Clackmannanshire and its environs by the protection, improvement and enhancement of buildings and artefacts of architectural, historical or constructional or other interest. the protection, preservation and improvement of the landscape. the development, encouragement and promotion of the sustainable use of the environment and in particular, the acquisition of such lands and buildings of historical, landscape, conservation, architectural or constructional interest as the Council of Management for the time being of the Trust may select for the purpose of restoration and sale or lease subject to such legally valid restrictions as would ensure preservation of such lands and buildings.
