We are the Scottish charity for older people. We stand with and support people in Scotland so they can grow older with security, are valued and connected and have a good quality of life. Our vision is that no one in Scotland faces the challenges of older age alone. We provide older people, their families and carers with high quality information and advice services and we tackle loneliness through our dedicated friendship programmes. We campaign and influence on the issues older people tell us they care about. We support and fund hundreds of older people’s groups and community initiatives across the country and deliver workshops to improve people’s quality of life. We involve and empower people affected by dementia and host national forums for older people from ethnic minorities and the LGBTQ+ community to help address the inequalities they face.
Objectives: Objects The Charity's objects are restricted specifically, in each case to promote the wellbeing of older people by: a) working to prevent or relieve poverty among older people b) advancing education and research c) working to improve the health and wellbeing of older people (whether emotional, mental or physical) d) promoting the advancement of volunteering and community development and older people’s participation in society e) promoting the human rights of older people f) promoting equality, diversity and inclusion g) supporting older people who experience ill-health, disability, financial hardship, or other disadvantage h) pursuing such other charitable purposes for the benefit of older people as the Directors may from time to time decide and for the purposes of this clause: (1) the expression 'older people' shall be interpreted by the Directors so as to ensure that the assets of the Company are applied for charitable purposes only and in accordance with any guidance issued by OSCR from time to time. and (2) 'charitable purpose' shall mean a charitable purpose under Section 7 of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 which is also regarded as a charitable purpose in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts.
