TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT Year ended 31 December 2024 Strurture, Governance and Management Governin8 document The Church is administered in accordance with the terms of the Unltsry Constitution of the Church of 5cotland18 November 2023) Recruitment and Appolntment of Tntstees Members of the Kirk Session are the Charity Trustees. The Kirk Session rneMbe￿ are the Elders of the ChU￿h, chosen from the members of the Church. and who are considered to have the appropriate gifts and skills. The Mlnister. who is a rnemberof the Kirk Session, is eletted by the congregation and Inducted by the Presbytery. Organlsational Strurture The Klrk Session meets six times a year. While the firk Session is responsible, and individual members of the 5e55ion as Elders, att and seriously accept their role a5 Trustees In relation to Charity legislation. the practice allow5 for greater flexibility in the manner in which allows Elders to manage their skills and talents in specific areas of Interest. The Kirk Session makes its decision5, Sets its prlorlties on behalf of the Congre8ation, and in the form of committees look5 after the various aspects of the Congregation's life and witne55 (Finance, Property etc). The Kirk Session is responslble for preparin8 the remit of each commlttee. The members of the committees must include Elders, but do notneed to comprise solely of Elders, and therefore a numberof people. who would be unwllling or unable to accept the obligations and duties of Eldershlp, are able to be fully involved in the life ofthe Congre8ation and its organisation as circumstances allow.

Statement of Trustees, Responsibilltie5 The members of the Klrk Session must prepare financial statements which give sufficlent detsil to enable an appreciation ofthe transactions of the Church durlngthe financial year. The members of the Klrk Session are responsible for keeping proper accounting whlch, on request, rnust reflect the financlal position of the Church at that time. This must be done to ensure thatthe financlal statements complywith the Charlties and Trustee Investment Iswtland) Att 2￿5. the Charitfes Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2t106. and the Regulations Anent Congregational Finances approved by The General Assembly of the Church of Scotland 2007. They are also responslble for safeguarding the assets of the Church and must take reasonable steps for the prevention and/or detection of fraud and other irregularities. Objectives and A¢tivlties The Church of Scotland is Trinitsrian in doctrine, Reformed in traditlon and Presbyterian in polity. It exfsts to glorrfy God, and to work for the advancement of Christ's kingdom throughout the world. As a National Church it acknowled8e5 a distinctive call and duty to bring the ordinan￿5 of rellglon to the people of every Parish of Scotland through a territorial ministry. It operates with other churches in various Ecumenical bodies in Scotland and beyond. As a rural parlsh, Kilmaur5: St Maurfs-Glencaim thrives to be at the centre of Cornmunlty Life, with services at I1.[￿)aM in Church on Sunday mornin8s. Family servlces are held regularly throu8houtthe year, when the emphasls is aimed at the younger members of the famlly circle. and normalfy in a550¢iation with Messy Church. Communion Ser¥lces are held three times a year. on the first Sunday of March. June and October. Communion is 3150 celebrated during the mornlng service on the last Sunday of the year. Throughout the year, Kilmaurs: St Mauls-Glencairn partrdpates ￿lebratiOnS and festlvities. Motherfs Day, when a daffodil posy 15 presented to every female in Church on that day. courtesy of the Flower Committee. Holy Week services. Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. are joint with Crosshouse Church. 2024 Maundy ThU￿daY Communlon servlce in Kllmaur5, and Good Frfday in Cr055house, wlth the retiring collect6on. for both services. belng in aid of The Scottish Bible Society. The Messy Church team organised an Easter Egg rolling event priorto the moming service on Easter Sunday. The Harvest Thanksgiving team decorated the Churth for the morning servlce. Thi5 is much appreciated by the con8regation, and highlights the wonderful work of a Farmlng and Agricultvral Communlty, deep in the heart of Ayrshire. The Harvest 8ifts in 2024 were sp15t between Eatt Ayrshire Foodbank. and filmaurs Primary School's Community Food Larder. The Brownies. Guides and Scout Group a8aln presented their colours during the Remembrance Day moinlng service. and the Community was well represented at the wreath laying service at the War Memorial in Morton Park after the morning service. The Church was decorated by the Attion Group for the Adventseason. The Action Group also supply the Advent Crown, which is lit during the four Sundays of Advent, with the centre candle bein6 lit to welcome in Christmas Day duringthe Watchni8ht service. The Church bell Is also rung on the stroke of midnight to i ndicate the arrival Christmas Day. FebruJi' 2024 saw us OrclJin thrèe new Elder and re-admi he new ers 5i8ned the Formula and were given the Right Hand of Fellowship rroni tne fvlini5ter and Klrk session. Distrlcts were rfrconfigured durlng the year, and Elders were assigned to a di5trFCt in the latter part of the year. Malntenance of Property is a blg issue. During the year. extensive work was carried out to the Manse doors and roof, rou8hcast, In5ulationlrender repair5 and to the slab5 around the Manse. These were all carrfed out In the Sprlng/Summer of the year. Some remedial pointing repairs was also completed at the Church. All in all, the Property is in 8ood repair

throughout. and much appretiatioft is extended to the Property team for their dili£ence and concern. One of the big Issues in all organisations such as ours is Safeguardlng. We are very ft)rtunate to have 5 our Safeguarding C&ordinator. Since her appointrnent was confirmed, the majority of Trustees have completed their basic training renewal, and the Safeguarding Register has been completely updated to detsil all chan8e5. We await guidance from the Safeguarding Service r&the implications resulting from the Disclosure Scotland Att 2020. which may result in rnore advanced trainin8 of all Trustees, and PVG certificate holders, of which we will be notified In due course. We thank for her sterlin£ work Since becoming Safe8uarding co￿rdInator. and lo0kfor￿rd to working with her in thls most important role. Church organisations continue to flourish. The Guild meets In the Communlty Centre and is dedicated to support themes, topics and strategies, set out at National level whlch for 2024- 25 is'sure Foundations,. The Gulld is open forwomen and men, and speakers are always open and entertalnln8. The Flower Committee, which ensuresthere is afloral exhibit in Churth everysunday momin& and for special services, which is then dlstributed, on a rota basis to members of the congregaiion or communrty after the mornin8 Service. The number5 in the Choir has a8ain rlsen duringthe year. We are pleased to see our Organist has recovered from hi5 Injuries. and is once again back In place. The choice of Introit and incidental music, is also to be commended. Could we atthis time thank our Mlnister for deputi5ing for uring his recovery. The Action Group continues to host the monthly cuppa., 3fter the mornin8 service. We are also pleased to report on the Group's revival of the Annual Trip in August. and the Sponsored Walk in September. The Annual Blytheswood Shoebox Appeal was again organised. Messy Church meets monthly In the Community Centre. Thernes are Bibllcal based, and activities include art, crafts and stories. These are fun activitie5 for parents, friends and chlldren to do together. and there is 31way5 a time for Worship. before everyone shares food. Messy Church also organised the spontaneou5 Nativity Play. which for 2024 was outstar)ding. In Kllmaurs: St Maur's- Glencairn, 2024 has undoubtedly been the year o joined us in lirstly in 2020, during the Covid pandemlc. He lolned u5 again for his Probationer Training. In the Church of Scotland Probationers a￿ tandidates for the Minlsiry, who, after completing their 5tudles. undertake a fifteen month placement in a Parish. supervised by a tralned Minister. before seeking a first charge. This placement is set to provide practical experientt and preparation for life in a Parish, with the object of preparing thern for Mlnistry. Throughout this tralnin& candidates attend Review meetings set to document trainins achleved, with the identificotion of areas for further development.

Interim and final Probationer appraisa￿ are then conducted, and must be completed before they can seek a permanent appointment and Ordination. David immersed himself lulty In our Church community. During Sunday services, he flrstly read the lessons, progressing to leading Prayers. and Preachin8 the Sermon, finally conducting full services. He dedicated his life to the life of our Parish, which was much appreciated by all who came into contact with him in this capacity. He attended the sick and housebound, he visited Nursing homes, h05Pitals and hospices. Hi5 progress was reported at Kirk Session meeting5, where he would furnish the Session with first hand accounts of his work. He spoke at the Guild, he worked diligently with the Messy Church Team, and assisted setting out the program forthe year. he attended Action Group meetings and joined in the Sponsored Walk. and conducted the evening service in Largs during the Annu31 Trip to Cardwell and Larg5. He vrsited the school and assemblies. He spoke about his pilgrimage to lona, and how this would affect his ministry. He introduced the congre8ation to various 'unknown' Saints Days, and world wide'festivities,. During hi5 time with us, he was able to achieve a long-held ambition of working in chaplaincy with NHS Fife. which he found challengin& but. so very worthwhile. and spoke about the 'powerof Prayer, in real life situations. He carried out hi5 work in our Parish to great effect. Thls was evident on hls last Sundaywith us when he wa5 presented with a very 8enerous gift from our congre8ation. and our best wishes for future success. Again we face challenges, again we are focussed on the challenges. The Kirk Session, through its Convenors and Committees, will continue to work for the benefit of the congregation. Thp rongre8ation is ever thankful for the devotion. dedication and commitment o and pray for their continual leadershSp. friendship. support and 8uidance, which lias been a great comfort, and we hope and prayfor manymore years to come.
