A Daffodil Tea with rcfrcshments from a Ioc81 café ended the $prin8 session. As sufficient funding was available. Members We￿ able to have outings lo10¢018arden centres for luneh or lea with time for some shopping and the visits to both Mackinnon Mills and Caulders Garden Centre in Cumbernauld gave opportunities lo buy Presents. During Ihe summer session there were the usu&l Irips on the Seagull Trusl barges on the Forth and Clyde Canal with groups taking the opp3t￿nIty to have a lunch on board to make them ¢xtrn S￿1&1. As rnenlioned in other years, funding is usually qutte difficult to attract but, again this yeer, Contact Point has been successful duc lo its availability to organisations whose services h¢lp lo combat social isolatio and loneliness and improve mentsl heahty especially of those who are vuinerabje for whakver rewn. The gecond ye8r of the Scottish Government's Social Igolation 8nd Loneline&8 Fund provided Contact Point wilh £24.000 for 2024125 through Impacl Solutions, delivered in No tranches, with financial and aclivity r¢wrts b¢in£ due at the end of each six mon(h5. Thc fundin8 niust be Spent in the allo¢at¢d tim¢, so it ha5 assisted us in nol only providing more varied artivitics but also in giving financial support to the Social Inl¢ra¢tion Group (SIG) Mcmb¢rs by subsidisin8 Outings and ev¢nts and charging a much-r¢duced cost. A new gTOUP f(K'younger' ('40 to 65ish') adults with 8 disability, was begun at their request wilh funding from Year 3 of the Scottish Government's Community Mental He&hh and Wellbeing Fund (thTOU8h th local Third Sector Inlerface, East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Aclion (EDVA)). This p￿Vided £14,750 iowards the settin8 up of 'Comrnunity Friends. in May 2024. and covers the salary of th¢ organiser and s￿1&(¢d running costs. A further £11250 wL8 received in December 2024 to continue the proje¢¢ through 2025126. Travel, particularly in bad wealhcr. is always a problem for vulneTable people so this fundlng means we can olTer lo pay for taxis for those who would benefil. The hope was that escorted transport would allow us to increase the nuTnlxr of p¢opl¢ who can attffld the SIGS by assisting those ttuly isolated people, whom the Local Area Older People's Team C￿rdinator already identified, who fjnd it difficult if not impossible to gei of the house wtth(Mrt supp)rt. Although the transport helped some of them, unfortunately. seveTal of those referred we managing at home but were qutie unable to cope outside. Others, wanted different tirne5 for any social outings, being very set in their ways! A8 usual, the most appre¢iativ¢ people have been those for wknm having a wheelchair ¢nabled a relative needing endwof-life carc to r¢main in their own home for longer, if they so wished, rather than having to 80 into a nursing home, hospice OT hospitsl. A volunteer joined us from August 2024 to April 2025 to help with taking the minutes and other adminisirtiv¢ tssks, which wa8 a gre•1 help but w)fortunately. the pernianent part-time post Iws yet to be filled. The part4ime So¢ial Interaction GTOUP Lkggnis¢r ¢ontinues to Work from the offjce in the G¢orse Crooks Room of The Pork C¢ntr¢. She is a very valuable member of the team and has an excellent relationship with all the Truslees. She is versatile and willin8 to help out on occasions when something extra is hap￿ning or if there is a probl¢rn. The Community Friends Organiser run8 activities on Thursday mornings but alsD helps With the s￿￿￿1 Inler8¢tion Groups, esp¢cially on a Wednesday and when the other staff member is on holiday. During the year she had some a55iStance from a Sessional Worker lo help get Community Friends 'off the ground,. This group has been successful, att￿11￿& newmembers. and providing the stimulation, ￿tivitIeS and social action requesred. They hav¢ g¢llcd ￿11. and th¢iT bant¢r and lau8htet are a rcgular featur¢ on Thursday mornings.
