Children's Holiday Venture's core mission is to improve the emotional and social wellbeing of roughly 150 young people through fortnightly activity evenings, semesterly day trips, and residential camps. CHV works with 13 groups of 12 young people aged 8-18 years of age from areas of Pilton, Niddrie, and Sighthill which are supervised by groups of 6 volunteers. CHV's activities provide consistency, safety and accessibility year round which are recognised by the social workers, schools, and parents who refer young people for varying circumstances including but not limited to abuse, disability, neglect, recently arrived refugees, low-self esteem and more. The charity is ran by an 18-member student committee based at the University of Edinburgh.
