Financial Review The So¢Ety's poly on reserves is thaL when surplus ftjnds are available. they will be hekl againsl the possibility. for example. of expanding the range of methods of engaging wrth the wider public in the furtherance of the Society's objecbves (examples in recent years being the ongoing reconstruction and expansion of the Society's website, and the creakn.on of a series of public￿ available Podcasts). FLsnds held as Custodian Trustee The John Buchan Swety hokls no such funds. Chaimian's Report The JBS Members, annual gathering and AGM were held in Glasgow in Marth 2024. There were talks given b n hergreat grandfather. JB'S father, who was a Free Church minister in Glasgow for much of JB'S youth". an rofessor of ra al Glasgow Universty. who focussed on JB'S iy)ety and his conneciions wrth Visits weie made lo the exlensThie Scottish coin collection. donated by the late Lord Slewartby to the Hunlerian Museum. and also to the Kefvingrove Museum and Art Gallery neatby. The Sunday Servi￿ took place in a church in a similar neohtx)urhocKI to that of The Reverend John Buchan's parish. and was constructed around the lrfe of JB by the ministe a great JB devotee. The J8S Website. the Members, Newsletter and the JBS Joumal continue lo spread the word about the Society and about JB. Furthemore, the North American group CDntinues to Ilourish, with another dinner and talks planned for 2025 in Canada. As il is the 15O1h annNetsary of JB'S birth in 2025. several actsvils are ting planned to celebrate this event, including the Members. annual gathering and AGM being held in Perth, the city of his birth, and il is hoped that a volume of essays by a var￿ty of contemwjrary writers and commentators will b6 published at some point in the next year.
