The Edinburgh Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers is set up to promote interest in these crafts and to encourage a high standard of craftsmanship. to provide opportunities for the interchange of information about these crafts, for widening knowledge by means of lectures, exhibitions, demonstrations, workshops, library facilities etc. and to co-operate with other bodies having like aims. The charity does this via a monthly programme of in-person meetings open to members and visitors, which include skills sharing, workshops and talks. It also takes part in fibre-related events in the Edinburgh region, demonstrating crafts to event visitors. Members of the Guild can take part in all Guild activities, as well as renting craft equipment and borrowing reference books from the Guild library. These activities are organised by the Trustees and elected Committee members, with additional voluntary support from Guild members when needed.

Objectives: The AIMS of the Guild shall be:- a)To promote interest in the specific crafts and to encourage a high standard of craftsmanship b)To provide opportunities for the interchange of information, for widening knowledge by means of lectures, exhibitions, demonstrations, workshops, library facilities etc c)To co-operate with other bodies having like aims.
