Management Committee Members Report
Management Committee and Administration Details
The South East Scotland Kidney Patients Association (SESKPA) was constituted as an unincorporated association and recognised as a charity in Scotland (No. SCO0O4923) in 1979. It is governed \by its constitution.
The Association is made up of its members from whom the members of the Management Committee are recruited and elections are held at the Annual General Meeting.
The current members of the Management Committee are William McDonald, Mary Keegan, Edith Scatt, Sylvia Seth, Alistair McDonald, Gerard McWilliam and Peter Scott
The principal address of the charity is 1 Parker Terrace, Edinburgh EH7 6SQ
The Objects of the Charity
The primary object of the charity is to provide support to renal patients and their families and to help improve their quality of life.
Annual Report of the Management Committee
SESKPA was formed in 1979 by renal patients and their carers with the object of promoting support to renal patients and their families to help improve their quality of life and represents patients and their carers $erved by Lothian Health Board and Borders Trust.
The last year has been very busy for our Association due to the procurement of our new caravan. | would like to thank Edith, Gerard and Sylvia for their ongoing advice and support, and Edith for her management of our Caravan. The new caravan, which can accommodate up to eight people, is still located in the Berwick Holiday Centre. The new caravan allows the Association to provide patients, carers and family members with access to a period of rest and relief, a distraction from the relentlessness of their disease and often gruelling dialysis treatment.
Our Caravan continues to be a well-supported and much appreciated facility. | would like to express my thanks to Edith, Peter, and Gladys for their hard work ensuring the safe and necessary maintenance of the Caravan facilities.
It was not possible to undertake our usual World Kidney Day activities at the ERI and BGH during 2025. The issue of SESKPA membership continues to be a major headache and whilst it has not been possible so far to increase our membership numbers we continue to hope that this situation will change. A continued concern are the health issues being experienced by our active members and we are offering support when required.
During the year one of our long time supporting members Margaret Cain sadly passed away. Her présence at our Committee Meetings will be sorely missed.
