The purposes of the Mull Museum shall be to collect, maintain, conserve and exhibit material evidence of man and his environment on the Isle of Mull and adjacent islands, or on the mainland, if relevant to Mull and to use these for educational purposes. To this end the Trust operates the Mull Museum which is open to the public from April to October each year. However, throughout the year work is ongoing, collecting, curating and archiving. All are able to apply to access information year round.

Objectives: The Trustees and their successors in office as aforesaid shall hold the Heritable Property, the Trust Fund and the Existing Collection IN TRUST: (a) to provide for the advancement of the education of the general public, without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions, by provision of the Museum comprising the Existing Collection together with such other objects, specimens or collections as may from time to time be acquired in accordance with the provisions of this Deed ('the Collection'), in respect of which there will be a strong presumption against the subsequent disposal of any specimen. (b) to provide for the protection of the specimens comprised in the Collection from deterioration, damage, loss, accidental destruction or unauthorised disposal. (c) to form, establish and support and to aid by way of donation or otherwise in the formation, establishment and support of any other charitable companies, institutions, associations, trusts or societies formed for objects similar to the objects set out above. (d) to regulate the use of Heritable Property (for the time being the Museum Building) for the enhancement of the social, moral and intellectual development or otherwise as may be found expedient for the inhabitants of Tobermory.
