MAGILL FAMILY CHARITABLE TRUST Report of the Trustees FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2024 The Magill Family Charitable Trust (MFcf) wa5 established by a trust deed on 12 Sep(¢mber 2022 to embody the charitable vision and valu¢5 of David and Joan Magill and received charitable status with the CCNI on 20 January 2023. The Ti'ust supports loeal charitable activities aimed at I'educing inequality, impi'oving health and quality of life and promoting reconciliation. li operates exclusively as a grant-making entity, nded by donations from ihe Magill Family. The Ti'ust is proactive and does not invite open nd1]ig applications. Instead, it identifies partner organisations and individuals capable of delivering project5 and services aligned with ils charitable objectives. All of our ndIng partners make a difference and bring about positive ehaiige in peoples, lives. We condiict written and face to face evaluations with our grant partners and where appropriate meet directly with individuals who have benefitted from the activities delivered by oui. gi'ant partners to ensure the maximum impact from our funding. The MFCT is a member of the Flinders Forum for Nl and also engages in discussions with other family charitable trusts to help to inform fiituie planning. This report covei's 8 12 month period l Api'il 2023 to 31 March 2024 and is the first annual report to the CCNI covei'ing ihe first full 12 month period of our Trusl's operation. The MFcf made grants totalling £94,705 in this period providing assistance to a total of16 organisations. OBJECTIVES AND ACflVITIES Chai'itable Objects The charity's activities revolve around five main areas.. - The prevention and relief of poverty in Northem Ireland The assistanee in the ti'eatment and care of persons in Northern Ireland suffering from mental or physical illness The advancement of conflict resolution, peace, and reconciliation, good commiinity relations, and the promotion of religious harmony The promotion of social inclusion of people in Northern Ireland for public benefit The promotion of paiticipation in healthy creatiOn, particularly by ihe advan¢ement of amateur sport in Northern Ireland Signiflcant activities Dui'ing this period, the Trustees focused on.. Obtaining charitable status with the Chai'ities, Commission for Northem Ireland (achieved 011 20 January 2023: NIC 109328) - Opening a bank accoiint Establishing and piloting application and decision-making procedures (proactive approach with a research-based process) The Trusl made small grants tolalling £94,705 (2023.. £17,850) during this period. FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Chai'ities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable lo chai'ities preparing their accoiinls in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in Ihe UK and Republic of Ii'eland (FRS 102) (effective l January 2019),, Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and the Charities Act 2011.
