The Magill Family Charitable Trust (MFcf) wa5 established by a trust deed on 12 Sep(¢mber 2022 to embody the
charitable vision and valu¢5 of David and Joan Magill and received charitable status with the CCNI on 20 January
2023. The Ti'ust supports loeal charitable activities aimed at I'educing inequality, impi'oving health and quality of life
and promoting reconciliation. li operates exclusively as a grant-making entity, ￿nded by donations from ihe Magill
Family. The Ti'ust is proactive and does not invite open ￿nd1]ig applications. Instead, it identifies partner
organisations and individuals capable of delivering project5 and services aligned with ils charitable objectives. All of
our ￿ndIng partners make a difference and bring about positive ehaiige in peoples, lives. We condiict written and face
to face evaluations with our grant partners and where appropriate meet directly with individuals who have benefitted
from the activities delivered by oui. gi'ant partners to ensure the maximum impact from our funding.
The MFCT is a member of the Flinders Forum for Nl and also engages in discussions with other family charitable
trusts to help to inform fiituie planning. This report covei's 8 12 month period l Api'il 2023 to 31 March 2024 and is
the first annual report to the CCNI covei'ing ihe first full 12 month period of our Trusl's operation. The MFcf made
grants totalling £94,705 in this period providing assistance to a total of16 organisations.
OBJECTIVES AND ACflVITIES

The assistanee in the ti'eatment and care of persons in Northern Ireland suffering from mental or physical illness

The promotion of social inclusion of people in Northern Ireland for public benefit
The promotion of paiticipation in healthy ￿creatiOn, particularly by ihe advan¢ement of amateur sport in Northern
Ireland

In setting objectives and planning charitable work, the Ti'iiste¢s adhei'ed to the giiidance issu¢d by the Charity
Commission for Noithern Ireland under section 4(b) of the Cliarities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008, known as the

The charity is governed by a trusl deed dated 12th September 2022.
Oi'gAnisational sti'ucture
The trustees hold ultimate responsibility for Ihe policies, activities, and assets of the charity. They meet regularly to
review developments and seek advice from professional advisors when necessary.
Ti'ustees
In accordance with the trust deed, there shall be a minimum and maximum number of irusl¢es. As a family trust
financed by the Magill family, Ihe majoi'ity of ihe appointed trustees are Magill family members or i'elated to Magill
family members. The chairman 15 an independent truslee selected for his personal qualilies, experience in the proper
operation of charities, and his past collaboration with the late David Magill in charitable activities.
Risk management and AvoidAnee of Harm
Financial.. Annual risk assessments are undertaken, with close collaboration wilh auditors.
Safeguarding.. Whilst accepting that safeguarding is the responsibility of the beneficiary organisation5. the charity
requires written assurances fi'om them ihat they have propel. safeguai'ding policies which they diligently implement. A
safeguarding report is also required during monitoring of achievements and perfom)ances.

I report in respect of my examinalion of the Trusvs accounts carried out under Section 145 of the Act and in canying
out my examination I liave followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commi5sioTh under Section
145(5)(b) of the Act.

I have completed my examination. I confinn that no material matters have come to my attention in connection witb
the examination giving me caus¢ to believe that in any material respect..

ACCOUNTING POLICIES
BASIS of preparing the finAllciAI statements
The financial statements of the charity, which is a public benefit entity undei. FRS 102, have been prepared in
accordance with the Chai'ities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of
Recommended Practice applicable lo chai'ities preparing their accoiinls in accordance with the Financial
Reporting Standard applicable in Ihe UK and Republic of Ii'eland (FRS 102) (effective l January 2019),,
Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of
Ireland, and the Charities Act 2011. The financial slalements have been prepared under ihe historical cost
convention.
Income
All income is recognised iii the Sialement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the fiinds,
it is probable that ihe income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.
Expenditure
Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the
charity to that expeiidiliire, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be I'equired iii settlement and
Ihe amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and
has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related lo the category. Whei'e costs cannot be
directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to aclivities on a basis consistent with the use
of resources.

but not accrued as expenditure.

TRUSTEES, REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS
One of ihe trustees has been paid remuneration in line with a service agreement in place with the trust.
Denise Magill has been paid £10,000 linder the authority of a provision in the Triist's governing document.
This is remuneration for acting as executive secretary of the trust. £10,000 of this remuneration is slill
outstanding at the period end (2023.. £5,000).

The owners of the building MFCT opei'ates from are two of the trustees: Joanne and Denise Magill. The trust
