Friends of St Olcan’s AGM
Tuesday 21st November 2023 — 7pm
Chairperson’s report
Last year’s AGM was held on the 29[th of] November so moving on from there our fundraising started with our usual kid’s artwork Christmas cards, which made £188.05. These seem very popular among parents, and we have gone ahead with the same this year. We then held our Xmas colouring competition which although made just a small amount of money, the artwork provided a cheery atmosphere to the children’s concert.
Last year we applied to DEARA and Fibrus and successfully obtained 2 grants of £1270.75 and £1966.00 respectively which enabled us to but 5 iPads for the school and some monies was used for the after-school ICT club digital dynamites.
Early in the new year we held a couple of online bonus ball raffles for Peter Kay concert tickets and a Tropic Skincare hamper, these together raised just over £600. Many thanks to Michelle and Nuala for their work and donations for this.
As we reached the end of the school year, we helped with the cost of sending the children off on their school trips and contributed to the P7 leaver hoodies.
We had our first meeting of the current 2023/24 school year on the 16[th of] October, and we were delighted to see some new members joining the committee with new enthusiasm and new fundraising ideas. From that meeting we are currently planning our Christmas bingo fundraiser which will be held on Sunday 3[rd] December. The appeal for sponsorship for this has been answered fantastically with over £1100 raised.
So although it was a relatively quiet year in terms of fundraising events we still managed to raise just over £4200.
Finally, I'd just like to thank everyone for their continued support throughout the year and a special thanks to Michelle as secretary and Moira as treasurer, and to Nuala and Gerard for their time and effort searching for and applying for additional funding resources. Well done everyone.
