Holy Family Fundraising Committee Report of the trustees for the year ended 31 August 2023 Our school committee is made up of a combination of school staff and parents. The Trustees are also committee members. The committee continues to strive to provide essential facilities and equipment which support the school and advan¢¢ the education of the pupils. Following from the success of the Summer Night - Healy Park event, the Committee were encouraged by the school & local Cotntnunities support and motivation to raise fvnds to replace interactive whiteboards throughout the hvo school sites. The importance of ongoing financial support which enables teaching staff to ensure pupil's educational & holistic needs are met is vital. The committee are mindfijl of the impact of austerity on families and local businesses,, without their support it would not be possible to ensure pupils are afforded every opportunity to achieve their 11 potential. This yearfs fundraising was supported by the annual Christmas Fayre with the addition this year of a Nearly New" sale for clothes & toys, the popular 5 week draw, Easter Kid's Qui4 Non-unifonn Fridays following the Easter break and £300 from the Asda Foundation. The Easy Fundraising" App, continues to provide some revenue, cost free through the raising of funds tIough e-commerce. The penultimate event of the year was the school production of Moana. Our s¢nior site pupils showcased their acting & singing expertise to the school & wider community, over 3 nights and matinee perforn]ances for local schools. Th¢ planning, rehearsing, set building, costume making and much more is a testament to the school staff and pupils enthusiasm for the Arts as an integral aspect of academic achievement. The finale of the year was the official opening of the Senior Site Play Trail & Nature Garden. This event was free of charge with activities (bouncy castles, Balloon modelling, Petting farni, face painting & beat the goalie) for all the family. Donation tins & raffle tickets were available. Hot food & a Tuck shop and Ice Cream were also available for a small fee. The weather made for & wonderful night and send off for year 7 pupils. The Committee have been able to pay for 2 more Whiteboards. In this ever developing digital age it is vital to have access to modern technology. Upgraded technology, such as new whiteboards and software, supports teachers in the cla55room, allowing them to connect with students more efficiently and work more effectively. With these advancements, students can engage in interactive learning, completing online assignments, reducing paper clutter and enabling real-time progress tracking. We have also been able to continue OUT Commitment to ensuring swimming lessons for Year 6 pupils and transport to/from sporting events throughout the year. Beyond academic benefits, extracurricular activities are essential for SdentS, emotional and social development. They offer a break from a¢ademi¢ pressures and provide opportunities to develop friendships and social skills. Fundraising within the school cornrnunity has become more than raising money. It has developed into a crncial role in keeping school pride alive and nurturing connections within the school & wider community. It has brought together students, teachers, parents, and local community members, creating a sense of unity and shared purpose. Our events are providing an environment where everyone feels they are contributing to the school's success, which boosts Collective pride and a sense of belonging. These events have become important opportunities for positive interactions and building stronger relationships within the school community and raising much needed ndS for our pupils. Plans for future periods The fvture fundraising plans of the committee are to support the school to replace & update the current Math Scheme for Year 4, Replacement Literacy scheme and training for teaching staff, Play resources for the Junior Site, Replace PE resources on both Sites and the ongoing commitment to swimming lessons and transport tolfrom sporting events and other school trip's. Hoty Family Fundraising Committee Report of the trustees for the year ended 31 August 2023 Statement of trustees, responsibilities The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Annual Report and the fmancial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice). Law applicable to charities in Northem Ireland requires the trustees to prepare fmancial statements for each fmancial year which give a tNe and fair view of charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources of the charity for ihat year. In preparing these fmancial statement5 the trustees are required to.. select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP. mak¢ judgements and ¢stimat¢s that are reasonable and prudent. state whether applicable UK Accounting Stsndards have be¢n followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the fmancial statements; and prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation. The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable acouracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charity Act (Northem Ireland) 2008 They also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity &nd hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. I report on the accounts of Holy Family Fundraising Committee for the year ended 31 August 2023 set out on pages 2 to 9. Respective responsibilities of charity Irustees and examiner As the charity's tru5t¢¢s you are responsible for the preparation of th¢ accounts in a¢¢oTdanc¢ with th¢ Charities Act (Northem Ireland) 2008. It is my responsibility to.. examine the accounts under section 65 of the Charities Act follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Commission under section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act - state whether particular matter5 have come to my attention. Basis of independent examiner's report I have examined your charity accounts as required under section 65 of the Charities Act and my examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland undcr s¢ction 65(9Xb) of the Charities Act. My examination included a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a compari50n of the accounts presented with those records. It also included consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as charity trustees concerning any such matters. My role is to state whether any material matters have come to my attention giving me cause to believe: l. That a¢counting records were not kept in accordance wilh section 63 of the Charities Act 2. The accounting policies have been applied consistently tlwoughout the year and the preceding year. Basls of accounting The fmancial statements are prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice 'Accounting and Rewrting by Charities, issued in March 2005 (SORP 2005) and the Charities Act { North¢rn Ireland) 2008. 1.2. Casbfloiv The charity has taken advantage of the ex¢mptlOD in FRS l from the requirement to produce a cashflow statement because it is a small Charity. 1.3. Resources expended Expenditure is recognised on an accrual basis as a liability is incurred. Expenditure includes any VAT which cannot be llY recovered, and is reported as part of the expenditure to which it relates. Costs of generating funds comprise the costs associated with attracting voluntary income and the costs of trading foi fundraising purposes including the charity's shop. Charitable expenditure comprises those costs incurred by the charity in the delivery of its activities and services for its beneficiaries. It includes both costs that can be allocated directly to such activities and those costs of an indirect nature necessary to support them.
