The charity is recognised as a charity under the Chanty Commission for Northem Ireland as at the date of registrakn'on being the 6 Febfuary 2019. Organisation The Directors and Truslees who have served during the year are detsiled out on page 3. The Directors and Truslees are expected to play several key rc4es in Ihe njnning of the tharity including fvndraising, govemance, financ4al budgeting and auditing, evaluation and assessment of the organisatson's mission and strategic goals, resource devdopment, public Fdicy and adv(racy, and marketing and communicat¥)n, Public Benefrt The directors and Trustees believe that both the purposes arxl the activities undertaken In this last financial year dearfy satisfy both elements of the public benefit requirement Funds have been ral￿d from small Irusts and foundations in UK, churches and individuals. In spite of these d￿cUIts.es, various CI-UK funded prryects have C￿tinUed such ag the hvo pnmary schools, the counsdling cenlre, the Mangina trade scFiTh)I, and the Université Chrétienne Bilingue du Congo IUCBC). A camws-wide clean water system has been completed al UCBC with a deep well water pump. Land has been purchased for the Mangina trade schod wFth money from the Bob McAllister Memonal Fund. Statement of Public Benefit The chan'ty is organised and shall be operated exdusNely for charitable, scients'fic. literacy, gjucatson aNI religious purposes and lo foster the prevention of cruelty lo children, gender abuse and actively support environmental protection. These benefits are evidenced by regdar and substsntsl suptM)r( finan¢ial and practical for a number of key projects. Currenlty the Charty is aclivety engaged in develwng a trade school In addition lo continued support of La Charité primary school and the UCBC university. Taxation The chanty is exempl from tax on its charitable activib'es. Restricted Funds Restncled funds are accounted for in accordan￿ with the particular tenTh of trust arising from the expr￿ or implied wishes of the donors in so far as these are intended to be binding on Ihe charity. Where such wishes are not intended lo be binding, they are taken into account and recognised in appropnately designated funds. Unrestricted Free Reserves Free Reserves represent amount which afe expendable at the dIs￿￿on of the trustees in furtherance of the objectives of the charity and which have not been designated for any other PUfFose. Such fvnds may be held in order lo finance working capital or capital expenditure. Incoming Resources Voluntary income or capital is induded in the Statement of Financial Activities vthen the charity is legalty entitled to it, its financial value can be quantified wlh feasonable certainty and there is reasonable certainty of its ultimate receipt. Enlillement lo legacies is considered established when Ihe charity has been notified of a distribulion to be made by the executors.
