| A summary of the Charity’s main activities and achievements in the year |
These are the main activities undertaken by this Charity to further its charitable purposes for the public benefit of its beneficiaries. All Sections of the Group have remained active: Squirrels (4-6), Beavers (6-8), Cubs (8-10), Scouts (10-14). Section meetings take place weekly during term-time, following a structured programme of age-related games and activities, to engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. During the year 1st April 2023-31st March 2024 All sections took part in the annual youth service and they also made up shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. The Squirrel section enjoyed playing games, did artwork and crafts, went to the Leisure Centre and worked towards their badges. They completed the All About Adventure Challenge Award, the Exciting Experiments Activity Badge and the Gold Wild activity badge. In addition, they completed the Get Creative Badge and undertook the All About Me Challenge Award. They joined with Beavers for a visit from a pantomime and had a Christmas party. The Beavers enjoyed a varied programme as they played games, made a variety of crafts, learnt new skills, and complete several Challenge and Activity badges. Throughout the year, we enjoyed visits to Cookstown Leisure Centre for Ten pin Bowling and we joined Beavers from around Northern Ireland for trips to Crawfordsburn Scout Centre in May and Armagh Planetarium in October. At Beaver Rally Day at Crawfordsburn, we went on a global adventure travelling around the world in a day. We had a great day taking part in different activities as we ‘visited’ different continents and we had a noisy time playing African drums. It was a busy year in the Cub Scout calendar. They enjoyed a camp at The Jungle where they took part in activities such as The High Ropes Course and Teambuilding games which helped them to develop different skills and leadership qualities. At their weekly meetings they engaged in activities to allow them to complete badge work. They also went to the Leisure Centre to complete the Swimming badge. At the end of the year several of the Cub Scouts had completed the Chief Scout Silver Award. |
