Risk and Internal Control
iTheGroup Executive Committeehas identified the major
risks towhich they believe the Group is exposed, these have
been reviewedand systemshavebeen established to
mitigate againstthem. The mainareas ofconcern thathave
been identified are:
Damagetoihe building, propertyand equipment. TheGroup
would requesttheuseofbuildings, propertyandequipment
from neighbouring organisations such as the church,
icommunitycentreand otherScoutGroups. Similar
reciprocal arrangements existwith these organisations. The
}Grouphassufficientbuildingsandcontentsinsurance in
place to mitigate againstpermanent loss.
Injuryto leaders. helpers, supporters and members. The
‘Groupthrough thecapitation fees contributestotheScout
Associationsnational accidentinsurance policyand also has
anon-membersinsurance policy.

undertaken before all activities.
Reduced incomefromfund raising. TheGroup is primarily
reliantupon incomefrom subscriptions and GiftAid. The
groupdoes hoida reserve to ensure the continuity of
jactivitiesshouldtherebeamajor reduction in income. The
Committee could raisethevalue ofsubscriptions to increase
litheincometothegrouponanongoing basis, sither
temporarilyor permanently.
Reduction or loss ofleaders. The group is totally reliant upon
ivolunteers to runandadministertheactivitiesofthegroup. If]
therewasa reduction in the number of leaderstoan
unacceptable level in a particular section or thegroup asa
whole then there would have tobe acontraction,
consolidation or closure ofa section. In the worstcase
scenariothecompleteclosure ofthe Group.
Reduction or lossofmembers. TheGroupprovides activities
for allyoung peopleaged6 to 18. Iftherewasa reduction in
membership ina particularsection orthegroup aswhole
then therewould have to be a contraction, consolidation or
(closureofasection. in theworstcase scenario thecomplete
closure ofthe Group.
