CARLETON OVER 50s ASSOCIATION A.G.M. 2 JULY 2024 Th¢ Annual General Meeting of the above Association was chaired by Mr William Partridge chair of the Orange Hall Trustees. Present: Ronald Corkin, Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Mrs Linda Corkin, Treasurer, MTS Sally Anderson, Assistant Treasurer, Mrs Jackie Moore and Secretary, Mrs Iris Metcalfe. Other Committee members present were John West, Jimmy Anderson, Jean West, William Murphy, Iris Rooney, Jean Kinnear and Elaine Murphy. Apologies were recorded from several members. The Chairyerson Mr William Partridge welcomed those present to the meeting and Mr Ronald Corkin presented the following Annual Report for the year 2023-2024. Mr Corkin reported on another successful year with visits to Kate's Cottage, near Hilltown, Bannville House Restaurant, the Royal Hotel Cookstown, a trip to Antrim Castle and Glenariff and the Dunsilly Hotel and the Seagoe Hotel. A very successful Christmas dinner and dance was held in December 2023 in the Arnlagh City Hotel. A BBQ was held in June and a breakfast in Brownlow House in February. There were numerous raffles held throughout the year during our visits to the varkous venues and at a quiz and bingo night in February 2024. A celebratory tea was organised to mark the Coronation of King Charles in May 2023. Many of the activities, visits and events were supported by the members of the Carleton Street Community Development Association. The Bowls continued on Thursday evenings with a regular attendance of 15 to 20 members. The knitting club on Monday evenings was also well attended throughout the year and the ladies enjoyed the opportunity to meet for fellowship and chat. They were also able to supply some of their work for sale at a Christmas sale in the Orange A Grant of £10,000 was received from the National Lottery Community Fund in October and this will enable the Association to arrange a number of outings and visits to various venues throughout Northem Ireland. This will go a long way to help alleviate isolation and loneliness amongst our members and we believe will help improve their health and wellbeing. The Treasurer Mrs Sally Anderson presented her Financial Report and advised those present that it had been a very steady year for the Association's finances. We had started the year with a Bank Balance of £3885 and finished with a closing balance of £12110, an increase of £8225. The increase is mostly attributed to the Grant of £1 0.000 received. There was no change in the Cash on Hand float of £60.
